@@Dremac5swimming for sure. Track is way ahead of Gymnastics though. Almost every team sport requires you to run and track helps you do just that but properly and without wasted motion (which can mean everything in a sport like American football where 1 yard determines Wins and Losses sometimes).

My son is 13yrs old. He played basketball at age 7 and 8…and at age 9 told me that he wanted to only play soccer, which is what he’s played since 4yrs old. At age 12 he told me that he wanted to play basketball so I began training him. I push him not to become an NBA Player, but to be the best basketball player that he can because as a team player, if he isn’t putting in the work to be the best that he can be, he’s letting down his teammates and that mindset is applicable to many facets of life in general. In my opinion no matter how hard you train your kid either he has it or he doesn’t especially successful athletes because you can’t teach the same hunger and drive and toughness that you had because your kid was born with the things that motivated you to get to that level

I have 2 sons.. 6yr old son is very athletic, natural gift., but he doesn’t understand alot of the important details of the sports he’s been playing.. the 5yr old is not very athletic, but knows aloooot of the details in the sports.. so, I have been struggling trying to find that common ground with my oldest of being harder on him because I see he has that gift & I want to give him as much knowledge as possible.. my 5yr old got it, he just have to grow up and let his body develop lol., he’s still my baby boy 😂😂.. but, yea I’ll learning to be patient with my oldest son because I don’t want to ruin our relationship.

What Kenyon said about the importance of having restraints, was underrated azz fucc! (Pertaining to your children) My son and I exercise together, and im always telling him id rather he do less the right way, than doing more the wrong way. And I obviously wasn't about to throw a weight at the back of his head, but he almost caught a rib shot. Luckily he had on earbuds, and really didn't hear me talking to him as he turned his back. Im standing there like, did he just do what I think he did? 😂😂😂 I had my 80's/90's music playing in the background, and automatically assumed he could hear me talking to him. But overall it was a misunderstanding, and i know i don't have that kinda kid who's disrespectful. He actually inspires me to stay active, and he listens, coincidentally he'll be playing soccer this year. 😂

This is crazy cuz I had just the opposite. Because I had no one to really take time and coach me, by time I made it to my junior year in HS my attitude was so fckd up I couldn’t be coached. I ended up playing on a circuit team in my city, was averaging near 40ppg, but still no one really wanted to give me a chance because I wasn’t coachable. A junior college gave me a shot, and I dogged every niggah on that team and never got to play one game because coach said I was a cancer. At 18,19 years old, I didn’t understand. Now I’m 39 and can look back and say damn, I was my biggest problem. Lack of male leadership made me a diva on the court and I thought because I could score the ball it trumped everything else. Men, even if you don’t coach your kids, just make sure you’re really being a parent and your child will know how to take instructions from an adult. It can be detrimental if they don’t.

That non-nepotism is appreciated, but it actually means that you love your son more, because you are preparing your sons for life beyond you being the coach. I’ve seen colleagues, I am a high school teacher, who coached their sons, and unfairly promoted them, and the sons weren’t the best players on the team! It made me coach my son hard as hell, and sit him on the end of the bench, while NEVER showing any OUNCE of nepotism. For example, son I want you to dribble the ball when we walk the dog, alternating hands every other block. Son said “no”. Well, when he wanted to play point guard and dribble the ball, I told him no, because I didn’t want to put him into position to fail. 15 years later, he now understands why I taught him to read prior to kindergarten, and tried to get him to be a better dribbler

It's funny how all major sports is changing from a working class to an upper class dominated spectacle... With that, true genius is lost and all you have are robots for the most parts who's parents have access to the best trainers. Natural raw talent and the beauty of sports is dying. With a few exceptions, these new factories of sports players lack grit, passion, competitive spirit and all the things we love about sports.
