How NOT to Cook on El Capitan - Big wall climbing food tips

We think we are funny by bringing a BBQ and watermelon and a whole bunch of food up El Capitan that we didn't need. We also do give helpful tips marked by the youtube chapters. Think of things that will last, have variety, plan for easy meals (cooking and cleaning up). It was rad meeting Brittany Goris ( / gorisb ) while she was projecting Salathe and then hearing shortly later that she got the send.

I did my last big wall climb in 1985, finished my career with Nose. At that time we were still taking almost 2 days. I always wished I was in the Golden Years group, but was in the Stone Masters. I was fortunate to have climbed with a few of the Golden Years guys. They were my idols. We never thought to take a propane BBQ up El Cap. But I salute you with a gulp of cheap red wine provided by one of my many mentors, Warren Harding.

Lentils and curry paste! Ever lasting food. Put the lentils, I prefere the tiny orange indian type ones, in a 0,5 liter bottel. A little more than half full. Fill bottle up with water and climb all day. In the eavening pour in pot, add some more water, a spoon of curry paste, some salt and heat. And done ist your tasty, vegan, rich in protein indian Daal soup.

This video didn't appear in my feed, the algorithm didn't bring me here. No, I clicked through from Steve Mould's video about bath plug chain coming out of a beaker. Two topics related so unbelievably tenuously. >>>>> Anyway, here I am, watching you, do something I am not even remotely interested in trying for myself. Trust me, that safety talk, not needed here but thanks all the same. You have however, earned my subscription though and I am happy to watch you do it all day long. I pre-made a bunch of rice and bean burritos for a trip in the AK coast range a couple years ago. Didn’t think that one through very well. Most of you probably already know this but burritos tend to freeze when the day time temps don’t get above 10 degrees. I spent 14 days munching frozen burritos 😬.

Have you ever tried military MREs? You can buy them surplus and they have a really long shelf life. You can reduce the size by removing everything from all the packaging and it will repackage a lot smaller. Really high caloric meals that will clog you up so not a lot of pooping going on! And they improved in taste over the ones I used to eat in the 1980's!
