Bassist/songwriter Bob Daisley played with Gary Moore a great deal - Daisley even said Moore was his favorite guitarist he ever played with. Daisley never gets enough recognition.

I thought I read everything about Randy Rhoads, but I never read anywhere that he and Gary Moore, of all people, had met and jammed.

I think it was 1981 and I went to see Ozzy in Seattle. I’m pretty sure it was the Paramount Theatre which holds, oh, 5K people. Anyways Randy was on guitar of course and it was the Blizzard tour. But everyone was standing on the armrests and going crazy whenever Randy went into his solos. There were a lot of guitar wannabes there - my friend played bass and I was learning classical guitar at the time - so the crowd was pretty knowledgeable. But I would say that was the craziest concert I ever saw, in a good way. (They actually played a few songs off of “Diary” which hadn’t yet released which was really cool.)

Gary made the right decision not teaming up with Ozzy. It would've been interesting but no doubt those two would've butted heads. Possibly even violently. I saw Gary Moore twice in 87 and I'll always cherish seeing him at the peak of his powers. Of course, the other tragedy was the untimely death of Stevie Ray Vaughn who Gary was rumored to be planning a tour with before the helicopter crash. We can only imagine those two on the same stage trading blues licks, maybe even with Albert King looking on with pride at his proteges.

What happened to Randy is exactly what concerned Gary Moore in not joining Ozzys band? Ozzie was and a partier? Understandably he wasn’t on the plane, but is was the people that Ozzie kept in his circle that ended Randy‘s life!

Combining what Bob Daisley and Dana Strum have said it looks like Dana managed to get the very wasted Ozzy for a very quick late night audition with Randy and was impressed but no final decisions about Randy were made before Bob, being dissatisfied with their rehearsal guitarists and hearing from Ozzy about Randy, they with some difficulty persuaded David Arden to have Randy flown over to England for some jamming. Very quickly at the jamming they "jelled" and were convinced. Seems like Gary Moore was invited to one of these early jam sessions.

Yeah ok again I thought you were going to straighten that out but you actually contradicted your stories a little you first said one way it went down and even gave Tommy Aldridge account at first meeting Randy while at rehearsals with Gary but then change it again back to Randy first meeting Randy in England .not that it's that big of a deal so I apologize if I'm coming off like picky over your words so for that I apologize but just wanted to get the story straight that Randy met Gary and Tommy and even Ozzy basically for for the first time in LA the day after he auditioned for Ozzy which Randy never actually met or even saw Ozzy that night he auditioned where Randy was sitting on a stool in the middle of the studio and Ozzy was back behind the window in the control room .Dana even turned the light down really dim so Ozzy couldn't actually see Randy he just wanted him to hear him and hear him he did .even though Randy auditioned with his Les Paul and his tiny little practice Amp Dana said it was loud as hell when Randy started doing the finger exercise and did a few harmonic squeals and divebombs by the time he ever started his solo from the Starwood which is what Dana told him to play Ozzy had already told Dana to take him home and they left Randy sitting on the stool playing as Dana drove ozzy home and came back and then he told Randy Ozzy said you got the gig and for him to meet Ozzy at the rehearsal hall the next day .I feel bad for Dana cause he was promised the bass gig and producer in Ozzys band .yeah I said that right producer. I guess Dana was doing some producing at Sunset Sound at the time he was driving Ozzy around looking for the guitar players Ozzy had written down on a list .kinda shocked Randy didn't recommend Dana after Bob and Lee got kicked out of the band .Ozzy had heard Dana play and was impressed with him and Dana was the one to get Randy in that band to begin with so yeah not sure why Ozzy or Randy went with Dana over Rudy .I think at that time Dana was probably the better bassist and all around musician and definitely knew his way around a recording studio but guess where Rudy was in Quiet Riot he picked him

Got it wrong, dude! OZZY was kicked out of BLACK SABBATH - he was constantly DRUNK & WASTED!! Iommi is a GREAT guitar player!! I saw him with BLACK SABBATH when DIO was singing.- AWESOME CONCERT!! The show was held at a civic center , which was filled to the max - well over 25,000 people. The next year, I saw RANDY with OZZY. In fact, I stood about 10 ft. away from Randy, if that. Another great show, but much smaller venue - maybe, 5,000 people. The place was sold out as well!! It was the beginning of the tour. 7 or 8 months l later... Randy was dead!! RIP

How can you have such a big music challenge and get this all wrong or at least the MAIN thing you have on your headline for the video .Garry met Randy in Las Angeles the day after Dana Strum brought Ozzy to the Sunset Sound recording studio at 3 am when Randy auditioned for Ozzy with the 15 sec warm up technique that was all it took for Ozzy to tell Dana tell that kid he's got the gig now take me home .the next day Randy was told to meet Ozzy at a rehearsal hall that Gary had rented out and was using to get G-Force started up and exactly like you said Gary was letting Ozzy bring people in to audition and so Randy showed up early before Ozzy got there and walked in as Gary and the band including Tommy Aldridge on drums were rehearsing and Randy sat down and just watched until Ozz showed up and then Ozzy introduced Randy to everyone there which Randy knew it was Gary Moore being a fan of his but yeah Randy plugs in and jammed for hours with Gary and Ozzy and Tommy and whoever on bass .Tommy has spoken about this numerous times as it was the first time Tommy ever laid eyes on Randy .So you got the right specifics except Randy met Gary in Las Angeles not England .I'll go watch the rest of your video I just had to stop and let everyone kno hey wait a minute this is wrong right off the bat .

Garry Moore is a fine guitarist for sure, but there isn't any way he was gonna be able to step in and play The Blizzard of Oz and Diary of Madman albums note for note in a few days. And no, Randy did not incorporate his thing into Mr. Crowley. He incorporated the minor scale. And it strikes me as quite delusional and arrogant to try to lay claim to that.

Yeah, "Led Clones" was a mistake by Gary. You see nothing is more ironic than criticizing other bands for being inspired by Led Zeppelin who are arguably the king of copying others music. Led Zep was a clone itself. Kindom Come did their rock in a different and distinct way and there's been none like them since. It was just one of those immature "cool" things to do, to shit at them at the time.

Randy Rhoads was only 25 when he died! Rhoads knew the guitar to well. He would have smoked Moore easily in later years!

Look man, I was there back in '78 when VH opened for Black Sabbath at the concert in Cleveland & agree with you to a point. When the house lights came down & VH hit the stage, not only Eddie but all 4 members in VH blew our hair back & singed our eyebrows. Half way through the first tune VH had the audience complete dumbfounded looking at each other stuck on Stoopid. Then after 3 or 4 songs into their set the feeling in the crowd turned, knowing they were a force to be reckoned with & a new sheriff in town named "Van Halen." However, let's keep it a buck & not get all crazy here, cool? Cuz saying the reason behind the break up of Black Sabbath was due to Eddie & VH opening up for Sabbath is absolute horsesh!t. C'mon Man! Don't be condescending by twisting words & babbling a bunch of BS making it seem like the cause Ozzy left Sabbath was bcuz Ozzy being blown away by Eddie's guitar playing. Even though it's true Ozzy was impressed with Eddie's guitar playing for sure, it still had nothing to do with the Sabbath/Ozzy split whatsoever. For one, Ozzy was "fired" by the other 3 members in Sabbath, he didn't leave on his own, dude. There wasn't an option for Ozzy in this matter as far as the rest of the band members in Sabbath were concerned.
