@@esmondgoh3112Greg and Daina did twitch for a bit, now Greg has a podcast that he does with some friends now and I think Daina runs a blog, other than that they're pretty off the grid. Derrick has a regular job but also joined Rock Force, a prestigious bboy crew, and he's dancing professionally again. Sean is working and just living life with his wife. Jacob and his wife went back to doing their travel blog. Paco moved to NYC and pretty much rebuilt his life, he's doing stand-up there last I saw.

yeah he was either making a point about life and divorce/// or he was aware of things. You'd be surprised what your friends know and stuff but won't tell you. My best friends wife tells me EVERYTHING and i am glad she can trust me but some of the stuff shared is like O.O; So maybe he saw something or she shared things w him.

36:09 Ryan's realization of Kyedae's age is soooo funny. But seriously tho, I think it just speaks to how even though Ryan and co. are in their 30s they fit in just fine. I bet people wouldn't question it if they said they were in their 20s and that also speaks to Kyedae's maturity too. Not being a 90s kids but already act so maturely. It's because of people like Ryan and friends in their 30s inspired me to think "you know what, 30s is the new 20s"

I really liked Abe's answer to the question about whether or not he "made" other streamers with his Rust server. I've always kind of agreed with that sentiment; you can provide a place to get eyes on something, but it's the content creator who's in charge of the conversion rate. If a good content creator gets a bunch of eyes on them suddenly, they blow up. But if a bad content creator gets a bunch of eyes on them suddenly, two weeks after the event ends they'll be back to where they were before. If anything, it can actually hurt to get too many eyes on a content creator too early, because for many content creation is a learned skill. And once people make a judgement, they're not coming back. So if a content creator goes viral because they were lucky with a piece of content instead of being a good content creator, it can actually hurt them in the long run, as it will take that much longer to win people back over.

As a real boomer I was there and Y2K was not a conspiracy theory. The basic issue was that many computer programs at the time referenced only the last 2 digits of the year (ie. 81 for 1981) and would've assumed 00 was 1900, not 2000. If companies did not spend a ton of money and time (in many cases up to 10 years) upgrading their code to use all 4 digits, worst case scenarios would've happened like blackouts, issues with banking, payroll not going through etc...

The y2k thing was real, but by the time it became relevant, all operating systems handled it perfectly. It was due to a programming limitation in early versions of dos and windows (due to how they stored the system date/time). It did not cause issues, because people who knew about it verified and made changes so no one did notice when it came to it. Also internet was not so widespread, especially for big companies, who did use these older version of OS's, so they were the most worried it would cause industrial size problems.

Also a ton of testing, auditing and programming was done in preparation of Y2K. So nothing happened not because it wasn't real, but because the IT industry took it seriously and fixed it before it became an issue. And it wasn't about the digit not going up but more about the practise to record dates with only the last two digits of the year since the first two were always "19". This was done primarily to save memory space since both RAM and storage (HDDs, Floppies, ....) had not much of it and were expensive so most databases in those day only recorded the last two digits of the year. It is easy to imagine how software would freeze or worse if there were some conditional statement that triggered processes the next day and overnight there wasn't a next day anymore because 99 > 00. That issue was present in many industrial processes and important infrastructure (electrical grid, railways, water, ...) but due to a major industry wide effort most of them were audited ahead of time and fixed where it was an issue.

I guess I'll be that guy but the reason why Y2K kinda came and went is because companies took it seriously, spent a ton of resources to make sure we wouldn't have problems... and most companies were fixing their systems for years and in some cases over a decade. Great episode!

Abe's ask @39:45... That's pretty much how most systems were identified for remediation as we knew we couldn't touch everything. Production environment for Y2K testing were duplicated, which wasn't easy if things were mainframe etc. They flipped the dates and ran the tests to see what calculations broke.

Speaking to Peter's point about viewers getting upset because he was streaming himself eating dinner just so he could stream longer and get their drops, I've seen so many people get upset about giveaways on Twitter and the like. People get really furious about free stuff. It's pretty insane. Do they not see that the end result of their complaining is that people will stop doing giveaways because it's not worth getting the hate?

The Y2K was a legitimate issue because many computers in the 90's only had years up to 2000. All the IT companies came up with patches to ensure this issue didn't happen. But it was a real concern. I know this coz I was in my teens when that happened. :)

In regards to Y2K, most large instituitions had computer labs full of PCs just set to the end of 1999/start of 2000 to test all applications for Y2K errors.

i think a solution even better for stream sniping is just make streamer mode give random usernames to each player like xbox generated ones including you and its different each game. Would fix that issue of riot games only giving that privilege to certain people

I'd love to see some guests from not-in-the-normal-community. For example, what about some medium streamers or youtubers. What about people from other platforms like facebook gaming to get a comparison? one I'd love to see would be MrFruit, Rhabby_V, and Bluewestlo ("The Dream Team") and hear about their experiences with streaming and video etc. Each of them has their own path they've taken and each of them has a vastly different point of view to the others but they all still game together.

abe really is the king of otv & friends servers & lobbies😭 he always has the best ones. i had covid during the rust era so it was ALL I WATCHED. and because i had covid in December 2020/January 2021, i quarantined for a whole month until my test was negative. so all i did was open up sykkunos stream for rust and if he wasnt streaming id watch someone else and also watch youtube compilations of everything going on with ppl i wasnt watching live, it was insane. im honestly so grateful that was going on while i had covid cuz i wouldve been losing my mind otherwise. it kept me entertained through it all🥲💗 and i had covid very very badly. it was the og covid strain with no vaccinations yet, sigh

Y2K wasn't a conspiracy, it was just blown omega out of proportion. The Internet / PC's did actually have issues because of it, because of the way UNIX time operated at that time, but it was quickly resolved.
