Samir Nasri is an interesting case. a child prodigy. a "Judas". a silky smooth technician. A Man banned for doping.
Also a highly disliked man in North London.

One of my core memories as a City fan is that 13/14 season, Yaya and Suarez stole the headlines but I won't forget how magical Nasri was.

That Man City team was incredible. Aguero, Dzeko, Negredo, Toure, Nasri, Fernandino, Silva, Milner, Kolarov, Kompany, Zaba. I'm an Arsenal fan. And that the was peak. Crazy that Liverpool set the pace at the end and fell short. Just shows how good Suarez really was.
@LjuboCupic1912
@LjuboCupic1912 6 ай бұрын
@@nanhunter87Suarez was a beast back then, the fact that he managed to get 43 goal contributions in the Premier League alone that season despite being suspended for five matches is insane. “Carried the team” is a term that gets severely overused these days, but Suarez really did carry Liverpool in this case. If he wasn’t suspended at the beginning of the season, they might’ve actually won the league.

So much ability. I remember choosing Number 22 as my Jersey number at my Local Association club because Nasri was #22 at Marseille. I was a defensive Midfielder but still admired his ability. Just never reached his full potential. He was amazing though

I'm a Marseille fan. I started to watch football in 2003 and Nasri was a pleasure to watch when he played for us. We were all proud to see a boy from our city playing in the Vélodrome and is still nicknamed "the little prince of the Vélodrome". Nowadays, he's a pundit for a French TV Channel and even comments some games. I like hearing him because he gives good analysis as an ex player.

He's a consultant on french TV now, and he seems to be way less arrogant now. He's not the brightest man, but at least he's more humble. And as he comments the PL, he seems to genuinely love Arsenal though his love for City is real I feel. He really loves the club for some reason. With him, Benzema and Ben Arfa born in the same year, France could have had a magic trio, but all 3 are dumb and have very bad influences in their lives. Benzema had a wonderful career in club but he's lucky tbh, he had so many controversies, he's lucky it did not ruin his club career aswell as his France career. Ben Arfa was both the most talented and the most stupid though. He could have been the best attacking midfielder in the world, but he was never anywhere close to being serious enough. Nasri had a pretty good career I guess, but really short. He never impressed me that much. He was obviously very talented, but I didn't see him as Zidane level material.

What? Nasri and Benzema were born in the same year? That means both are in their mid 30s, (about 35/36yrs old). Yet Benzema still plays high quality football but now in Saudi Arabia 🇸🇦. Imagine if Nasri had remained fit, what he could still have achieved today. 🤔

Ultimately, he made the right move. 2x PL winner with City while Arsenal were winning FA Cups and slipping further behind in Europe. He was going to move anyway, it was a tussle between Utd and City. Staying with Arsenal was never going to be a solution. I am more disappointed with the final years of his career, he probably stayed a year too long with City when he could have sealed a move elsewhere.

Managers of players have milked the tv deal rights income increase to the point the whole market is a bubble. But what can you do if a percentage stays the same honoring the contract agreement while China's and India's rise has made that percentage being worth 8 times more, since you can't tell me that Arsenal today would be able to buy a talent like Nasri was back then for under 100 mill. The managers influenced the percentage and therefore the price tag on young talent, that's why now they are worth more than the best player at the moment in his prime years. In 2014 Neymar wasn't valued more than Messi or Ronaldo is I remember well. It's after the new TV deals that the market for young stars went bonkers.
