Scientists are growing eyes in the lab to help research into genetic eye diseases. The eye cups differentiate into three distinct cell layers of the retina, giving insights into the development of eyes during pregnancy.
Dr Mariya Moosajee is a consultant ophthalmologist at Moorfields Eye Hospital and Great Ormond Street Hospital for Children and a senior lecturer at the UCL Institute of Ophthalmology.

My eyes have gotten smaller and it's not because of orbital fat decrease. Could some like this be used in the future to help grow the eyes bigger?

Hi Dr Mariya, i have done some research and come to know that Prof. Nishida from Osaka University came with a breakthrough in which he mention that they are much closer to lab-grown human eyeballs as they have grown almost many eye tissues. I have a baby born with bilateral anophthalmia and hoping that one day he will have his vision back. I am fed up of Bionic eyes technology as they are trying with many approaches and will take few more years.I have spent much of the time researching on the technology perspective but if you can please let me know Dr. Mariya , will it be possible to transplant lab grown eyes in the near future. Please reply back as you are a doctor and can advise something on this.

Don't hold your breath. Some of these technologies will not come forth for another 20-100 years, that is if humanity does not collapse.

Whole eye transplant from Pittsburgh university , Bionic eyes from around the world, Stem cell therapy and gene therapy will take another 500 years, although they have started up 20 years back and tested the brain implant in 6 patients 2 years back, synthetic cornea tested in human. Just one question if that is the case how your small nokia phone become this much advanced in no time , how to world transformed into digital world after 2000 in no time? what is is neural link doing then ? did you experience advancement in technology since 2000 , to be more specific from 2010 ? If your age is 30 plus , go back and see your snapshot 20 years back.
