a 940 sharper than a Delica... this must have been filmed on April 1st.
@MF_UNDERTOW
@MF_UNDERTOW Жыл бұрын
The 940 is thicker behind the edge than both the Delica and Elementum and an overall thicker edge geometry. I have all three in my collection and the Delica and Elementum cut far better with less effort than the 940, especially through materials like cardboard. This wire test is only measuring the acute portion of the edge but overall blade grind thickness and edge geometry is more important for actually separating matter.

Sharpness is way more important. Blade shape means absolutely nothing if your edge is blunt.
@jeanladoire4141
@jeanladoire4141 Жыл бұрын
@@Jake-bt3fc that's not exactly true depending on what you want to cut. For splitting wood, geometry is more important, but for soft things the actual edge is quite essential of course. That being said, a good knife needs both geometry and edge
@Jake-bt3fc
@Jake-bt3fc Жыл бұрын
@@jeanladoire4141 There is a big difference between cutting wood and splitting wood. Try to do a cross cut with a blunt maul. It would take all day long, lol. Doesn't matter if the blade has a belly, a straight edge, or a recurve, if it's not sharp it's literally worthless as a cutting tool.
@jeanladoire4141
@jeanladoire4141 Жыл бұрын
@@Jake-bt3fc except that's not totally exact, some edges are better off blunt, like cleavers. That's pretty surprising, but i now work in a butchery, you can run your finger across the cleavers, and they chop carcasses fine. For slicing trough huge stacks of meat tho the sharper the better, but the edge needs constant honing. Like every 30 minutes with a steel rod

Don't listen to the Andrew guy. Just buy some kind of a jig and it'll keep a perfect angle which no human ever will. I own an Osborn and I gotta say it's the best EDC knife on the market, in my opinion of course. Everyone has their favorite and to each their own but man I tell you. I've been carrying this knife for 3 years using it daily for opening boxes, cutting them up. Opening packages for the kiddo and cutting clothes tags for the missus. Using it for mechanics work as well and it only recently started getting dull after 3 years of abuse. I think its subjective, I've used mine hard over 3 years and it's honestly incredible how amazing it's been. Other people havent had the best experiences. Personally I'm definitely getting another 940 Osborn because I'm completely sold.

That Spyderco has CPM-M4 as well. If it didn't you got the wrong one. I just got the mint FRN with titanium carbonitride coated M4 blade. It looks better than the non-coated Delica.
