I'd say Kira is more "cunning", he still made a few silly mistakes, he just usually had the power and force of will to overcome them. But a lot of those mistakes are kind of just because he's a serial killer. Like, if he'd been able to resist bringing a hand with him everywhere he went, or even if he'd hid the hands inside Killer Queen, he'd probably never have even been discovered. If he had given an alias to the tailor, it would have been far less likely that he'd ever be found. And what was most surprising to me, (especially for a man who desired to live a quiet life) he revealed his own identity out in the open when he knew for a fact that in addition to Rohan, at least one other person who was looking for him would be nearby very soon.

Well not quite. Killer Queen's biggest weakness is it's one of the stands with a lot of rules on how to use. Almost as many as Dragon's Dream. If you understand those rules you can exploit and counter them.

It really is situational, Light would only kill someone that is specifically threatening him or a known convict or someone who's clearly about to commit a crime. We all know Kira wouldn't do something as stupid as going after Light and it's unlikely Kira would get convicted by regular police, so the most likely scenario for it to start with would be Light seeing Kira in the act of taking a new victim, such a scenario would be pretty normal for Light up until the point where Kira explodes the body to rid of the evidence. As Light can't see the explosion he'd just see a girl's body disintegrate into absolute nothingness, which would probably fuck Light up in the head as that's an ability not even the Death Note can do. From this point it can go one of two ways and I honestly don't know what would happen in either of them. Light would either dismiss Kira's abilities as some kind of trick and start looking for a name as he usually would, or he could recognise that Kira may be more threatening than the average criminal and proceed with caution, possibly considering the fact Kira might have a more powerful version of the Death Note, in which case Light may put as much effort into catching Kira as he put into finding Misa Misa, maybe even the effort used in killing L. At first glance that may seem bad for Kira as, let's be real, Light is definitely smarter than Kira, that's not debatable, though this in no way means Kira is dumb. Kira likely wouldn't be able to figure out Light's motivations or plans immediately but he's definitely smart enough to realise someone's after him, and he'd probably realise said person is looking for his name at some point. So he'd probably set up his own traps for Light. Either way it'd be a really interesting fight as rather than measuring physical strength it would test their application of mind games and pit their deductive skills against one another. It would be a battle of who could find the identity of who first, if Light finds Kira's name first it's his win, no questions asked. But if Kira realises it's Light who's after him he has several options, from walking past him and using Killer Queen (who Light can't see) to turn him into a bomb and ending him then and there, or finding Light's house and dropping Sheer Heart Attack into his room, or simply attaching Bites the Dust to anyone who Light might of tried to get Kira's name from (co-workers, friends, women who've tried to date him, etc). Either way, it's definitely food for thought.

If Light wrote Kira’s name in the notebook, but had the image of his old face in his mind and didn’t know what his new face looked like, would it no longer work until he found out what his new face was? Can an old picture of Kosaku Kawajiri work or does he have to see Kira with Kawajiri’s face or a photo taken after the face swap? If 「Killer Queen」 touches the Death Note, will Kira be able to see Ryuk? Can Ryuk see stands? Because cats always seem to have supernatural abilities to sense otherworldly beings, could 「Stray Cat」 see Ryuk? What if they see Yoshihiro? Can the Death Note even work on Yoshihiro anymore since he’s already dead? Can 「Killer Queen」 blow up Ryuk?! This raises so many questions…

But here's the thing, you need a name for the death note, and bites the dust activates when someone tries finding out his name

well here are a few things we would have to decide on first. lets start with the state light is in, light could be: by himself prior to L even being on the case. it could be light investigating kira while L and the FBI are on his ass. it could be L after he recruits misa and starts to pretend that he works with L, it could be light not remembering that he is kira actually working with L or it could be light after having beaten L the last two scenarios would be the most likely, if light was working with L they might link the disappearances in morioh to the kira case. post L light might be even more likely as he is now part of the police force and probably doesn't like the idea of crime rates going down everywhere under his threat, while people just keep disappearing in that one town. we also have to decide on which state kira is in. first scenario is where he hasn't met the duwang gang yet. second scenario is where he has assumed a new identity and the third is him having bites the dust. now here is one thing that should be clear: if kira has bites the dust, light isn't winning this. in the second scenario light can only win if the investigation of the real yoshikage kira disappearing leads officers into his house, finding evidence of his crimes and making him a wanted man, allowing light to use the death note to end him. however it is important to note that using the shinigami eyes still wouldn't work here because they need to see the face unobstructed to see the name,, which is no longer possible since kiras real face was destroyed earlier. now on to scenario one, the most interesting one since it is less one sided. in this scenario kira is still himself so there is no reason for him to be investigated, kira might still develop special interest in morioh after realizing that the rate of unexplained disappearances isn't going down like it does everywhere else in the world, but due to kira not disappearing in this scenario, nobody would ever think to search his house so it would be extremely difficult to find a trace leading to him.

Note both Crazy Diamond and Star Platinum are much faster than light speed. So just being able to compete with them is a sign of being faster than light.

if you can punch at light speed, you can essentially bust planets with quick punches, both of them would've fucked everyone and just ended everything in a few episodes even if they had 0.01% lightspeed, which they do not

I think though that the portrayal of the situation is accurate. Fetishists live with a constant shame (unless went to therapy). This shame and fear causes them to overreact even to the slightest mentions of their fetishes. That's why some fetishists on the surface conversational level often seem to be repulsed by that same thing which actually turns them on. Seeing that hand, Kira was in fear, his biggest nightmare came true, that's why his practical mind shutted itself down. Overall, the portrayal of fetishists is extremely accurate (I'm myself a fetishist but keeping it S.S.C.)

Bites the Dust is mostly situationally useful. It's just that it was nearly perfect for the situation Kira was in. Though I suppose if he were to use it on someone super humanly powerful, like perhaps a vampire or a Pillar Man, they'd be able to protect Kira from physical threats (since he wouldn't have use of his Stand) and Bites the Dust would protect them.

Say If Kars is caught in an air bubble explosion, then he could survive that easily, but he wouldn't survive a direct hit from SHA. Now, Kars himself has a distinct advantage in the fact that he has the entire evolutionary catalog in his genes. I'm not offering any opinion as to who would win (as fights are contingent on more than just who's "stronger"), but just putting in some facts.
