*TLDR Court Docs* - ZeRo didn’t legally deny soliciting nudes from a minor and after specifically given another chance to do so by the judge, ZeRo still didn’t deny it and then settled with Jisu. The only things Jisu legally admitted were false were to things she had already admitted were false before the lawsuit back in 2020. ZeRo is still guilty and Technicals still supported and helped him in his return

@@CommentCop Of course he is guilty bro. The difference is that he is bettering himself and in his defense, it was really long ago and now he is married. Its wrong as well as Nairo/Zack, the problem being the severity of what happened on the latter and what happened after (Nairo stating the we was r*ped twice lol). Zero basically didnt talk about what he did anymore and that its shady af, but IMO we can see past it as he didnt do it again it seems, however with Nairo and Zack, if it happens again there is a tangible victim and repercussions. Soliciting nudes on the internet is something that leaves no immediate victim if they dont send them but statutory r*pe is something that was inmediate consequences on the victim.

Well they keep letting it happen. When Zero and Nairo were minors in the brawl scene (AiB days) they used to let this shit slide in smash fests. Female players used to get groped after given alcohol or during their sleep. There used to be blogs on AiB almost every other week on sexual misconduct but they never took action unless you were a player who was hated by the majority.

TBF, even w/o Tech's help the Smash community was probably going to implode on itself. Big fragile egos combined with a young gullible ravenous fanbase. One detail not brought up here was the Smash Community's stance on underage drinking, specifically around Smash the Record 2016 I believe (and the only tournament I've attended in person) Short and sweet D1, arguably the most well known commentator, was revealed to have had sex with a woman that accompanied MVD under the influence of alcohol. Tech brought up how negligent this was on MVD's part and pushed for checks on people going to bars and after parties. Perhaps the worst of it came from flippant responses like "you must be fun at parties" by PrincessHyrule and others throwing the blanket "High schoolers drink". Like jeez there's a sexual deviancy issue and now's the time to just be dismissive of real fixes because I guess Tech is being too prudish on his response The trouble is that this community is so resilient on changes in any capacity. Personal hygiene, checking IDs, security at events, banning a cash cow (Leffen), and so much more

Honestly the community hasn't felt the same since the first wave of allegations, especially recently with Wadi. It feels like most of the big name smashers are either focusing less or are being outsted as a terrible person. PPMD, Armada are retired, M2k is on hiatus and focused a lot more on streaming these days, and who knows how long Mango and Hbox will be invested or more on with their lives.

I think the community is a case of going out no in a bang but whimper. It's slowly all falling apart from its roots. It's clear smash is in survival mode and it just might not survive.

As time goes on, he is only proven more correct. Dude said something about children in the community pedaling their favorite players and streamers opinions and because they feel like it's okay, they start bandwagoning. Though it's of a different context, I have seen stuff like this in other contexts whether it was Hugs86 stance against objectifying women or simply banning Steve. I have seen it with TKBreezy also speaking out against Nairo's actions; matter of fact, Technicals himself is an artifact of this. The community made it popular to dislike him, so default reaction to his presence is to stand against him even when he is making sense. I was one of the people who found him saying this was a pred ring dumb as hell, but it makes an unfortunate amount of sense in hindsight.

If I was hugely invested in this one community and it's figures and suddenly one day this random guy shows up and tells me they're all horrible people, I'd be pretty upset at him too. Technicals confirmed my suspicions I had on the smash community for years. 2017 I went to my first and only tournament and it was the oddest vibe I’d ever gotten. People were just really weird(not the average player, but the pros at the time.) I can’t even look at the game the same anymore at this point.

Fun fact of the clip of Nairo saying he gets permission to restream tournaments. When Nairo was coming back I was super excited because I was a fan, even donating 5 bucks on his comeback stream and had watched several streams thereafter My opinion on the guy has changed of course, because while I think people do deserve 2nd chances, it had always bothered me how Nairo was unbanned, but everyone who knew what happened was banned, besides Tweek I think. Anyways long story short, it was because I was a fan I got Tech that clip because I remembered on the back of my mind that he said he gets permission.

In the case of Zero to this day I believe flirting with someone after they found out they were underaged was of course bad... the other stuff like "Hey guys check out this hentai" at the age Zero was at isn't the weirdest thing I've ever heard. I've known guys who share porn vids before... do I think it's weird yes but nothing Zero did was criminal. He didn't rape anybody, molest anybody or harm anybody. I'm glad that Zero is back and I'm happy that he is in a better place now not to mention healthier. In retrospect the accusations only made him a better person. Though it is also a frightening aspect of a internet hate mobs that such accusations also could have cost him his life.

Nintendo and predators go together like PB&J. It can't be helped and Technicals will spend his entire life working over time as there will always be a case to solve. This reminds me of when Nintendo had to terminate Letter Box on the 3DS because predators were using it to catch children. Think of the scandals of Disney, Nickelodeon, Sesame Street, Barney, Blues Clues etc. Any place primarily for children where you have adults frequently working or hanging out, you're gonna catch a predator. Nintendo is in a tough spot because adults who grew up with Nintendo stick around but the brand continues to focus mainly on children. It's a mixing of grown men, children, and man-children, and apparently something is mentally wrong with way too many of its star players. I still play tourney level smash but I've stopped following the scene keep it to hole in the wall events. Everywhere you turn it's some sex scandal. This watch was so well worth it, it helped me get context on all these videos that have been captivating me and been recommended to me. I may not involve myself in the smash community and only watch from the sidelines, but I think I understand better the work that technicals did for the community. It reminds me of content cop, how needed that was at the time since so many people were blindly falling into traps, and even the humor is a little similar. I may not like Technial's mode of delivery in sarcasm, I have to agree that he knows his shit. Not perfect, but so aren't I.

ngl, my perspective on this keeps shifting but I think this is my opinion on the matter, here to stay. Tech sounded like he was singing different tunes between his ZeRo vids and his Nairo vids. Initially I was all for giving folks a second chance, but after long consideration... sure give a second chance, but I don't think that they should be allowed at events that host minors either. But I also can't get over the fact that Tech sounded hella bias when contrasting his ZeRo and Nairo video series.

My viewpoint on this is Zero did less but is completely excommunicated by the smash community. Nairo was too, but yet somehow someway, the upper tier players of the smash community is now rallying to get him unbanned. Tech says to keep Zero banned from comp smash and isnt trying to unban him off twitch. Hes just chill with letting Zero make youtube content. In Nairos case however, everyone seems to be trying to bring him back on Twitch and Smash events as a whole, AFTER he had been condemned. That's the key difference here. Tech doesnt need to beat the dead horse that is Zero's already fucked Twitch and Smash Comp life. What's the point? No one is even trying to help Zero, not even Mew2king. Nairo however has help from Hungrybox all the way to Dabuz who condemned his actions. Of course the tone's different.

@@RoninofCrimsonMaple Oh I 100% agree that there was clear bias in how the smash community handled Nairo’s and ZeRo’s scenarios. IMO they both deserved to stay banned from smash events, but I also understand the frustration behind the double standards there. It’s just that, Tech’s choice of words when addressing the ZeRo situation was, at least IMO, very light handed. You could say that it’s cuz there was no point in beating around the dead horse, unlike in Nairo’s case who was accepted back into the community (Btw, for that alone I decided that I’d want nothing to do with the smash community anymore. So I dunno what the Nairo situation is right now).

@@SirePuns That's fair. Even now, Tech says he likes Zero and goes out of his way to compliment him. Probably because Zero accepted the punishment hes received and isnt trying to force his way back into the community with sympathy. I see both made mistakes and I don't care to condemn or shame them. All things considered, they both seem like they're just gonna live on with their lives and I doubt either will diddle kids. However, Nairo is just chilling with full support and is seemingly trying to get his way back in without any care for what he's done and the community is just okay with that. So Zero took his hits and is now just doing his own thing. Nairo took his hits, is now tryna play the victim and is trying to act like nothing bad ever happened, having not learned his lesson.

I enjoyed the video, just a few pointers, while I understand the need to make a timeline of events on how technicals came to be as a content creator that ultimately became responsible for the smash community downfall, I feel like the video when on a tangent several times, right at the end of the video, I feel that there was a lot of information that needed to be exposed in order to solidify the argument that technicals broke the smash community, stuff like his involvement on the disband of the global banlist, and a more detail recount of events of the vgbc drama, since there's no way nintendo didn't notice technicals presence pointing out the flaws that ultimately resulted in vgbc downfall, and them taking down out of spice the only legitimate nintendo circuit, I feel that should have being part of the documentary too, but overall, great video. Just want to point out, that I don't agree with all the points technicals has made over the years, mainly, the zero and nairo ones, I don't believe zero deserves to have a platform and that he shouldn't be welcome back to make content at all, since he prove beyond reasonable doubt that he is incapable of interacting with others without doing something stupid, specially minors, as for nairo, i'm always being against banning him, it's ridiculous petty and dumb take, nairo shouldn't be ban, cause nairo should be arrested, I said many times in the past, that the real problem with the smash community isn't their inability to take care of problems, but the fact that they apparently are unable to pick up a phone, call the police, and have sex offenders like nairo behind bars, like, the mere idea is asinine to them it appears, how is it that a community can be that insanely retarded, that they can't pick up a damn phone and report a crime to the authorities, and with the evidence, uff, it would be a field day for the prosecution. Anyway, just my takes, hopefully you keep improving your content, fuck nairo, fuck samsora, fuck captainzack, fuck salem, and fuck leffen specially, fuck you leffen you little piece of shit.

I agree with your take wholeheartedly, but also Zero being mentally challenged and droped out of school will make it hard for him to get a job, so for the time being I think it's best for him to continue as he now need to provide for his own family. Also figured a community that brought liquoirs to an event with minors would be hesitant to call the police. The whole smash community is fucked.

@@taskmagician4289 I don't think zero deserves to be prosecuted by any means, his case wouldn't make it to court since there's no physical evidence of him receiving any ilegal images, his situation was more in the terms of, he's an idiot that would tell a minor to do outrageous stuff but not so much that would put him behinds bars, at the very least he shouldn't have a platform where he is capable of interacting with minors and make the same mistakes, also, he wasn't a teenager when the allegations of him having innapropiate conversations with a minor arise, and even if we prove that the person in question was a catfish or someone trying to take him down, it wouldn't take from the fact that he still choose to make those interactions with the knowlegde that the person in question was a minor, so yeah, I still think he shouldn't have a platform to make a profit.

@@xtopher174 I don't know if zeo is mentally challenged or not, or if he drop out of school, regardless of that, there's many people in the same situation that have successful jobs and using that as an excuse to allow him to continue to have a platform after his little stun, I just wouldn't do it, I don't think he deserves to go to jail for having innapropiate conversations with an alleged minor, I don't think a court would even dare to accept such a case, and i'm pretty sure no prosecutor would even consider taking him to court, my whole point is that he as an adult choose to have innapropiate conversations with a posible minor (i'm keeping the idea that it could very well not be a minor), but regardless of the person being a minor or not, he choose to take those actions with what he believe was a minor, so it's obvious he isn't fit to interact with a public or platform where he would have access to the same sitution, it wouldn't make sense to allow him to make content anymore in that sense, to me he just doesn't deserve that chance, but he does deserve justice, and he should take legal actions against leffen and anyone who contributed to his diffamation in that regard, but again, that's just my opinion, and I undestand if people disagree.

I still to this day have yet to see someone in the smash community actually argue/debate against Technicals in good faith, it's all either kids with feisty one liners or just straight up ad hominem. Also I wouldn't say he "broke" the smash community per se, they sort of did that themselves more than anyone could, what Tech did do was shine a light on just how corrupt some of these people really are which was much needed.

This video was really well made. But if I may offer a little bit of criticism, that jazz track that played throughout ch3 drove me crazy. It made it difficult to focus on what you were saying. Maybe something a little less blaring would work next time. But that’s just me. Still enjoyed the video regardless.

A mythology professor of mine once divided the heroes of Greek Mythology into two categories: the thinking man's hero, and the strong man's hero. Technicals is the thinking man's hero. And definitely the hero the Smash community needs.
