I miss the old days when you needed a house built, all you had to do was brew a few pots of sorghum beer. You called in the male members of the village. Poles were hurriedly gathered from the forest, mud was missed up, grass cut and carried to site and voila! A house was built in a day with great cheer. That was the Africa our children will never know😭

Yes they are affordable which is a good thing, but where is the beautiful expression in them that make the developing youth proud to live there. Affordable houses don't have to look ugly and resented. A point to think about. I come from an architectural background and i know that one could still build something beautiful yet affordable at the same time. It's all about design creativity. Give the youth something that would empower them and give them a sense of pride, creativity and a forward-thinking mindset. Beauty doesn't equate to expensive. All you have to do is add simplicity to good desgn. Get in touch with me please as i have way better ideas. I am thinking of organic 3D printed fully functional houses that take a maximum of 10 days per house to build. I can also work with researchers to ensure that these houses' facades are resillient to the external climate of Rwanda. These houses are also cheap to build and are beautiful and look apart to the organic green Rwandan environment. It's time to start implementing 3D printing technology in affordable houses.

@@user-fn6gb5cu6x True, but I just don't like the thought of dull and ugly design that lacks creativity such as these houses. Aesthetics and beauty matters in the built environment in order for designs not to depreciate over time as we advance into the future. I also don't like the thought that's crossing my mind of associating bad and ugly buildings with Africa. We have to beautify the continent, our countries. I think a simple 3d printed stylistic unique dwellings would've met the requirement perfectly. I think Rwanda should look at investing in 3D printing of such small houses. The capacity of 3D printing is such that it allows us to build even organics structures effortlessly, cheaply, fast, and that are environmentally friendly. The flexibility of 3D printed designs of houses is such that we can mold designs in a way that would suit the environment. Rwanda for example is a green envirnment; organic 3D printed houses with an organic masterplan would suit perfectly. These 3D printed houses take about 4 days to build, yet they have everything a full functioning house has.

Additionally, we all know African products exported to the world are heavily taxed and face so many off putting obstacles, and their neighbours one are on the other hand not taxed so much, and or even subsidised. So the sooner we start uniting and giving each other the endless opportunity we have in our own continent, the better our presence in the world table, as a true united force to recon with.
