It amazes me that the Braves can perform better than any other team against one of the best pitchers of all time and all the talk isn't about how well the Braves hit or how good they are, but instead how bad the Mets looked. The Braves are criminally looked over. And Max Fried didn't even get a mention here, just stated the Mets weren't hitting.

Derosa's point was that deGrom didn't need to incorporate his change-up vs Braves hitters. He was confused as to why he was throwing them. They were ineffective. I agree w/him, I just think he was working on the change-up for a possible playoff match against them but it's not like the Braves hitters are going to put it in their memory bank & say, "now we have to look for his change up". Nope, not when it was ineffective vs them. Keep going w/what has made you the best pitcher in the game. Don't try & get cute. That was DeRosa's point.

Sports media for ~2 years (at least) have never talked about how the Braves win games against the ultra-high payroll teams...they can only talk about the organizations who buy their teams with unlimited payrolls and make excuses about how the other team (NYM in this case) lost the game. Braves lose = Other team played a great game, they talk about everything the winning team did well Braves win = Braves didn't win, the other team lost a winnable game (so they say). Only talk about the reasons the big market team played poorly

It's simple ... The Braves didn't stop DeGrom they stopped the Mets hitting People forget how good this Atlanta team is at bat it doesn't matter who's pitching against them the odds are Atlanta will get on the scoreboard So Atlanta decided to throw a really good pitcher out that night to minimize the Mets scoring And that's why two of the best teams in baseball had a low scoring game

The Braves are 3 games out as of August 23rd. I expect The Braves to run The Mets down and win The NL East. I dont care how much easier the September schedule is for The Mets! This Braves team is HELLA LOADED! They are even better than they were in the 2nd half of 2021...when they played great and won The World Series! This lineup is loaded...with 1-9 all capable of hitting homers.....the pitching is deep. If Diaz were to go down (even for a few weeks) would be DEVISTATING for The Mets (while The Braves proved that they could compete when Jensen went down for 2 weeks with his heartbeat issue). Pete Alonso (whose struggling now and could use an off day or two) is VITAL to their power challenged lineup. Injuries will pop up (The Braves are getting both Ozzie Albies and Mike Soroka back by mid-September)....depth will play A HUGE ROLE the rest of the season.

We have a good team, but not championship caliber. Braves beat the Astros a team we're 0-4 against.
