After the U.S. and Germany's significant move of providing Ukraine with the $1.1 billion PATRIOT system, Ukraine showcased its fortified defense capabilities. On May 16, just outside Kyiv, a Patriot battery expertly detected and neutralized a volley of Russian missiles, including six formidable Kinzhals, launched from approximately 125 miles away. The final missile was halted just 9 miles from its destination. This defense feat was repeated three more times against Kinzhal threats, suggesting Russia's intensified focus on these Patriot defenses. Initially dubbed SAM-D, the PATRIOT (Phased Array Tracking Radar for Intercept on Target) has been an emblem of U.S. allegiance to its allies since its 1980s inception. However, its unique radar frequencies can be pinpointed, making them potential targets for Russia's advanced arsenal. Enter the Kinzhal, or "Dagger", NATO's "Killjoy". This Russian marvel boasts a range up to 1,242 miles, carrying a hefty 1,058-pound payload. Astonishingly, it can reach speeds of Mach 4 and in some instances, zoom up to Mach 10. Despite not consistently holding these remarkable speeds, its nimbleness, combined with unpredictable trajectories, makes it a daunting adversary for any defense system.

6 Kinzal interceptes. It should then be easy and in their interest for Ukrania or Americans to show the proof of video, radar tracking and pieces of the destroid e 6 Kinzhal. Where are they?

Research the Khinzal and you will see why it's not a "true" hypersonic missle. That will answer your question. Also, it's important to point out that the intercepting missle (in this case the Patriot) doesn't have to be faster moving than the incoming missle (in this case the Khinzal). Don't think of it as a drag race. The intercepting missle is launched from an area that is (in most cases) much closer to the incoming missle's target. Think of it as a head on smash. The intercepting missle is coming at the Khinzal.... not chasing after it.

@@alexlindsey6446 even google will simply answer you. I suggest you do what you're proposing, research further. The speed determine reaction time which is very important in interception. In this case the patriot will be aware of the khinzal too late to counter it. And we've not even spoken of avangard slide vehicle.

The world inventory of patriot is about 1.4 k launching units. Allegedly usa USA & alies send (most optimistically) 12 to 18 unit of launchers to Ukraine. This was sufficient to disrupt all patriot ammunition inventory. Conclusion, the weapon sucks.

A system is not an all-in battery, there are some misconceptions, often duplicated by media and news streaming. Those 2 new German systems are not independent patriot batteries but additions to existing ones. So, Ukraïne still does have 2 patriot batteries, with newer additions like extra launchers. Early 2024, Germany might send 2 extra Iris-T batteries, so independent all-in defense units. Besides this, inflicted damage to patriot batteries does not mean the entire network has been struck. It was likely for 1 launcher to be hit by russian kinzals. However, not all launchers or other elements of the battery were damaged.

I think in a couple of years, the break through in laser defense systems will have counter the “ hypersonic missiles attacks “ systems. And maybe lasers as a weapon as well.

@@justinb7940 Those lasers can hardly destroy an ordinary missile under ideal almost laboratory conditions..... Those lasers never proved to be able to defeat strategic nuclear missilles which are going to be used also against aircraft carriers if necessary by Russia and China.

The video makes it clear that the patriot might be able to tell decoys apart from warheads but this may depend on the tech behind the decoy. The iskander launches 6 decoys and it's safe to assume the very similar kinzal does the same. When you hear that 7 or so out of the 14 missiles got shot down it could well be 7 of the 12 decoys got shot down while the 2 missiles reached the target.

Nowhere does it say that Iskander also carries decoys... It is not known to be a multiple-warhead missile. Makes no sense either, since Iskander only reaches up to 5 km height, meaning it doesn't leave the atmosphere. Ballistic missile decoys only work on much larger MIRV ICBMs that do leave earth's atmosphere, because decoys only work when there is no drag. Air drag separates the decoys from the actual missile immediately.

No it doesn't, this is not an ICBM, the load of short range ballistic missiles is limited to the blast warhead, it doesn't have the capacity to carry dummies and the tech to be able to release them. 1. Because it doesn't go high enough. 2. It can't carry 6 dummies. This is why Russia is so full of misleading information because people like you brag about false information. You probably believe that the Patriot was destroyed and wanted to believe that Russia only launched 2 Kinzals while it launched 6 Kinzals, 9 Kalibers, 3 S400, and 5 UAVs in a simultaneous wave. The Patriot shot down 18 missiles!

@@Hydrazine1000 Iskander can carry up to 6 9B999-Decoys in its missile body. Also, in the ballistically launched version, the missile has a apogee of around 50km. Besides, it does not matter if the decoy slows faster than the warhead because you won't have time to compare the rates of slowing, deciding and engaging in a comfortable range of that what you are defending at the moment. I mean, your talking numbers here that are even more stoked than that what the Russians tell us themselves lol

@@flixri726 Ok, fair's fair, I stand corrected. I got to an item on The Drive that confirmed this. Now what's left is to figure out if those decoys from Iskander (which I just learned are in its base) carry over to Kinzhal. The latter does a much more tapered base, so there is no space at the location where Iskander holds them.

Segunda informação foram vários kinzals lançados contra o Patriot e abatendo um após outros, com certeza o último chegou mais perto e sendo abatido houve estilhaços e nisso foi danificado. Mas para um sistema qua já tem 40 anos, foi um grande sucesso, visto que os EUA têm o mais avançado sistema que é o Taad que não quiseram enviar para a Ucrânia.

Mildly admitted, Russia is far ahead. In reality, Patrion shot down non of those Kinzhals and the only meating was when Kinzhal exploded while hitting Patriot system on the ground....

Do you know how inside of Kinzhal warhead looks like? ..... well now you do. Of course it lost all of its aluminum and plastic, outer shell components. PS: I'm not pretending, to be specialist on missiles. After all I'm just an average, retired, infantry, US Army combat veteran, with 20+ years and multiple combat developments. Thing is, when 'shit hits the fan' a lot of stuff, losses its original looks, familiar to the eye. One example. I've seen an unexploded HE, T-72 round, that got stuck in the wall, and guess what? It looked nothing, what I knew how the round looks. Another example. Have you ever saw, unexploded 120, 82 or even 60mm mortar rounds? Yes. Basically no resemblance to their original looks. Basically what I am trying to say is. Don't believe propaganda, don't matter which side you're rooting for. Look at the picture, from different perspectives.😉

Russia could have leveled Kiev long time ago with conventional bombs(not Russia´s objective) , on the other hand there has been plenty of precission strikes in Kiev already... Russia is not targeting Ursula or Biden or Blinken during their visits....because SMO was ment as a limited war, not to spark WWIII by killing Biden for instance. Kinzhal can destroy any target in Europe or USA(if launched within it´s range...Ukraine is not any exception.

Yes great support, germanys industries are collapsing rapidly, americas debt is reaching astronomical proportions, much of the finance usa sent to ukraine has been stolen this includes thousands of tons of arms, munitions and missiles, no doubt joe and hunter will be stocking their bank accounts with much of the proceeds

If it isn’t a great system, why haven’t they been destroyed? The video you’re referring to doesn’t show them striking the ground near the patriot system, it doesn’t actually indicate at all where the missiles hit or if they were intercepted

Kinzhal isn't that fancy. Its an air launched ballistic missile. It flies in a predictable path. The only thing going for it is it's speed and even then it's not going that fast near impact. Computing power is how you defeat it which the patriot system has.

Nope. Definitely not better if not much more worse. Russian SAMs including S-300/S-400 that are touted the "best" failed to intercept HIMARS rockets and NATO drones. More than 30 drone strikes reached Russian territory this year. Even 2 of Russia’s strategic bombers and one A-50 AWACS were damaged by drone attacks. A drone even reached Kremlin if that was not staged by Russia itself. Where did you get that information from? And why are there no photos of destroyed Patriot launchers? Usually Russia makes them public very quickly.

If that was true, then why have 90% of missile/drone attacks on Kyiv disappeared since the arrival of the Patriot air defense system? If the Patriots were destroyed, it would have been front page news all across Russian news outlets and social media

In military and analyst circles the Patriot performance assessment against these hypersonic missiles is all but positive. Wishful thinking is no substitute for the actual reality.
