Also, Ellie says they built their village on top of most of the tunnels where the bomb(and summoning chamber!) was. Seems like a horrible logistical move on the others’ part to let them have access to the monster.

I now regret for a little bit that I didn't fully explore the building process for the barracks. That's actually something that would fit right into this video. I agree that it seems like a horrible logistics move to build it over the Jughead chamber. I've argued that the original intended spot for the barracks was down south and agreed on by them and the hostiles, but they moved further north. It could be that Jacob talked to Richard and allowed it to happen. This was before they signed a truce. For the hostiles, it would let them access to the barracks since they had all these tunnels underneath it. As Richard said. The sonic fence protects other things and not them. So that was one advantage they had. Maybe having the barracks near the summoning chamber would be an advantage for the hostiles, since it would lead the Monster to them and potentially make them stop drilling any further/kill them/scare them away? Great question about the sonic fence. I think I might deal more with that in season 6 when Widmore brings his own sonic fence. As for Charlotte. I wonder if that was one of the many trunctuated bits from season 5 that went away. (They were gonna do a bit with Pierre Chang and Faraday that didn't happen). I assume that since Charlotte was on the Island, maybe overheard her father David at home talking to Horace about digging near the well and constructing the Orchid. And this was one of the memories that kept coming back to Charlotte when her mind was flashing through time.

Well, howdy! So good to hear from you again. I'm doing very well, thanks, you? The radio tower map was probably the hardest one to solve, and I don't think it's completely solved anyway haha. It involved some theory-making. That this was an older map and the marking of "barracks" in that map, I theorized was the proposed site of the barracks, and instead they built it further up north. I also did some obscure flip-floping with it, not too different from your solution back in the day. If you want to hear how I solved it, then you can check out the video on Through the Looking Glass, but I completely understand if you don't want to be influenced by my findings. The year 1970 comes from Marvin Candle in the very first orientation film. "The DHARMA Initiative was created in 1970, and is the brainchild of Gerald and Karen DeGroot", although as I expressed in this video, some work was done before through the Hanso Foundation.

Sorry, I misspoke. I guess my question isn't the creation date of the Dharma Initiative, but the year they arrived at the island. Your video implies that they arrived the same year that they were created. (10:16) and that Radzinsky stated that he had started working on the Swan as early as 1971. That would make sense. My problem with that is that in Season Five, episode eight - Lafluer the year is 1977. Jin enters the Flame and checks the radar logs to see if a plane landed on the island and Radzinsky is building a model of the Swan inside the Flame. If he's buiding a model of the Swan in 1977, how could he started working on it in 1971? Thanks @@Choekaas

@@TheLostMap Ah, yeah, gotcha. I don't think it's a problem that he is making a model in 1977 and in a few episodes later he says he's been working on the Swan since 1971. It's a complicated station, with it being so close to that pocket of electromagnetic energy, that might've seen numerous designs. Back home we have a building that has been in talks since the 1960s and gone through numerous designs, various boards and members, budgetary reasons and even various architectural designs - this building is now almost done and opens this year. Sometimes it takes a long time to finalize a project.

That make's sense. My only problem is that I can't find a reference of Radzinsky saying he started working on the Swan in '71. I re-watched the Incident (Episode 5-16) and reviewed my notes. Do you happen to know when he says this? I did see on LOSTpedia's The Swan mention that Radzinsky did start working on the Swan in 1971, but didn't see any reference. I would love to find where he says this, but I just can't find it. Thanks

@@TheLostMap Here it is! Radzinsky says it in the season 5 finale "I've been working on this project for six years. Designing a station that'll be able to manipulate electromagnetism in ways we only dreamed of." 1977 - 6 = 1971 :)

This is NOT what happened. Rebecca Mader had to defend herself after Damon an Carlton shamelessly accused her of changing the script. Later they admitted that she was 100% not to blame, the script said 1979. You can check Rebecca Mader's Lospedia article and the EW article source for the full story. @@ShadowDogProductionThe show is riddled with continuity errors. The timeline on the show is a mess. It's a million times more believable that the writers or script coordinator screwed up, which is very clearly and firmly stated by the writers in this case. Why in the world would you believe that Rebecca Mader is lying when the writers themselves admitted fault and apologized to her?
