How quickly can you learn the basics of braking? Military pilot and novice racing student Billy Knight takes to the track for his second lesson, while Bondurant Racing School pro driver Andy Lee shows him how to navigate short brake zones, tight corners, and contain the wrath of the Dodge Charger in this installment of the Dodge Racing School series.

Same answer; Not everything is about "me" and what "I" can learn from a video. So Corneliu was disappointed, but does that mean that the video is not relevant, nope. The content of KZfaq is kind of a lottery and the creator can't possibly know what your needs are and adjust to that. In short, if you expect everything to be relevant for you, you are in for a big disappointment.

Magni i have no idea. I think that you should be very experienced with a manual before you try to race. I assume it's for fundamental purposes. I guess trail braking has nothing do with the transmission (unless you incorporate heel to toe).

Come to Europe. Here 99% cars are manual. Infact don't get offended please, but when I read that "you should be very experienced with a manual before you try to race", I somehow thought: "yes and you need to be very experienced at walking before even trying to run". I know it's a bit offensive, but it was not my intention to offend anyone. I just want to point out that here driving implies knowing how to use a manual shift.

Gotta love that picture....the trailbraking distance is twice as long as the actual braking distance...which is curved (understeer anyone?!?!), and it is also in place of the acceleration zone?!?! Why would you be trailbraking after that apex?!?!...not to mention that a late apex would be nice on that bend....
@BucketWheat
@BucketWheat 7 жыл бұрын
Trail-Braking is something a LOT of typical drivers have no concept of! Many of my friends think I am a "POOR" driver because I use both feet when driving an automatic... even when driving a BUS. ... Until they RIDE with me thru mountain roads...smooth as butter, with much better maintained speed...! Even in those buses!! (-;
@BucketWheat
@BucketWheat 7 жыл бұрын
I am not talking about JUST "trail braking" but transitional smoothness throughout the driving. Whether on a track or mountain roads, going uphill or down... it is easier on the car, the tires, and it is easier to Roll on the throttle as you continue a bit of braking and releasing the brakes as smoothly as you applied them...

Left foot braking is a technique road racing drivers learn very early in their training. Usually kart racing as you have no choice. Very useful technique for heavy traffic on public roads when you can't leave the ideal two seconds or more following distance. Reaction times are much better compared with right foot only. Caveats are do not ride the brakes and get used to using your left foot on the brake. If you do not like it or do not agree with the concept then don't use it. PS I'm a former driving instructor with the top racing schools in Canada.

Taken from their site: "Standard on the Challenger SRT® 392 and SRT Hellcat is the largest front-brake system ever in an FCA US vehicle, featuring 390-mm Brembo two-piece rotors with six-piston calipers." So yes, more than enough for VERY heavy track use. Massive vented rotors distribute heat a lot better. The massive 6 piston caliper also means a larger brake pad which also means better heat distribution. The design of pad itself will also have a backing plate to keep the heat from boiling the fluid. There is a lot of over engineering in modern vehicle braking systems. I wouldn't be worried about brake fade while doing braking tests unless I did that consecutively about 10 times and then just left the car parked. Even then unless your brake fluid is really old this isn't an issue. Just drive easy, let brakes cool and she'll be good to go.
