Today, a quick illustration of the oddly unintuitive method for adding and removing links on a Grand Seiko watch bracelet.

Lifesaver. Thank you! And for anyone who has managed to do it, you deserve a special award for patience!

Thank you for this video - looks as can it be done easily with the screwdrivers I own

He forgot to mention that you should use loctite 221 or 222 on the thread of the screws he removed.

Sometimes there are stubborn screws that will not move. I would advise not forcing those and just remove another one.

Hey Nick. I’m in the watch business and I like your tool. Where did you get it. I like a screwdriver and a sizing tip on the same tool.

where do you a tiny screw driver for this?

What about removing half links...screws look different..I added a link watch to my sbgx085 it was to big..took one off ..fitted me but when in warm conditions its too tight .I saw on a forum if you remove the two half links and add one full link it's abit larger..But it looks like the part holding the half link.is smaller than full links and to me it will be loose.

You needn't unscrew the second screw. Gentle shake, rattle, and tap, and the pin will usually slide out.

This comment was crazy useful. Sometimes the screws are impossible to unscrew but the other side is unscrewable. Thank you.

lol i didnt realize it was that easy. my tissot prc200 flops around my wrist from 12-6 and it drives me nuts. i may just try to remove my own links. mine dont have the screw, looks like just push....i might wanna tape up the sides to not scratch it up though. im not the most gentle

Sbgx002 is different..screw is in center of link just one on side than a small little bracket inside that part you take off...took me a nearly a hour to put it back...half link looks harder..to do...I need to take half link off but won't chance it...older model watch

how to do take out the lugs to actually take the band off?
@peterhallam65062 жыл бұрын
You only need to undo one Screw and the pin will fall out .

Compared to many collar and pin systems, that's easy!

Unimaginative and terrible screw/pin system. Especially if some type of loctite goo ever needs to be involved. Really lame. But not your fault Nick! Thanks for making this quick demonstration.

I’m actually looking for 3 additional links for my SBGH001. I can’t get them anywhere, even from the Grand Seiko company itself. If anybody has extra ones that they don’t need, please let me know.

Do they really make screwdrivers that small for those screws? I can't get a screwdriver to turn the damn things on my bracelet. It fits, but its almost like the tip is to dull (or fat) to fit in the slot

You probably resolved this years ago but if not, you need a higher grade 1.5mm precision driver. Most out there are quite thick, partly due to imprecise machining, and partly due to the use of lower grade non-tool steel that will deform easily if not thick. I highly recommend the precision bits by Wiha. The handle that comes with their basic set is so much less good than their bits, it’s a shame, but it’s serviceable. 90% of the time I use the handle from my Ifixit set and a bit from my Wiha. Exceptions are when I need an odd shaped bit like the triangle ones found in some computers, the Ifixit set is a lifesaver for those, but the 1.5mm slotted, like yours is a bit too thick.
