After 12 long months of waiting, the air layer on my Japanese Black Pine finally rooted. I just hope that the tree survives after cutting it off the mother plant and potting it in its new home.

Way too cool! Short and direct to the point. I have a mungo pine I’d like to propagate and I thought pines only propagated with pine cones. Thank you for this video.

Good job! What soil mix do you use?

I buy bonsai soil from my local bonsai nursery. I don’t know the ratio but it looks like a combo of pumice, small pine bark, coarse sand and premium potting soil. The soil might not work for everyone because it will depend on your location. But it works fine where I am.
