Subscribed! Wow Ron, are really good at this DIY video gig! Super-accurate and helpful info, well produced, not jumpy and no annoying audio tracks (Matt M, listen up!) Only one critique, too many leaves on the lawn-- should have vacuumed them up with a bagging mower first. There will be some lose of effectiveness on that hill for sure, but hey, maybe the neighbors will see a slight improvement in their lawns at no-charge! Keep it up! Nice work.

One of the most important thing to know is before mixing ANY Herbicide is the ph level of your water ! Ours around here is high about 8ish and most herbicide need a ph level of 6ish ( read label ) . If ph is high as soon as you add your herbicide it will lose a lot of its potency and gets lower each hour it sits in tank ! Many ways to lower ph level but using distilled vinegar is cheap and works very well ! It takes 1/2 once per gallon for my area .

A very well done video, My experience is that during the 3-5 week period that the Image is working on the Poa, it is busy producing seeds for next year. Sadly, If you have Poa, it is too late for next year unless you use an aggressive fast acting killer.

Thanks for the feedback Jim. Completely agree on poa that's already in the lawn. Spraying it with Negate or Certainty with a surfactant is a better option for eliminating it. First time homeowner here. Poa is spreading like crazy in my yard. I discovered Image and it definitely worked on a lot of it. However, I missed the early spring timing on the pre emergent. At this point, should I just wait until the summer Texas heat kills it off and apply pre emergent around September or go ahead and do it now?

If you go over the.80 prodiamine limit, will it hurt the grass or is it bad for the environment?
@RonHenry
@RonHenry 3 жыл бұрын
Hi dahinojos. The actual limit is .83 for warm season grass. I just say .80 in the video to make the math easier for viewers to follow. If you go over the annual limit, the herbicide can become toxic for the grass. There's really no reason to go over the max rate. I would switch to dithipyr for the fall or some other pre-emergent for your fall application.
@MichaelFlare
@MichaelFlare 2 жыл бұрын
Almost all of the Prodiamine 65 WDG products instruct us to use 0.183oz (5.2g) per 1000 sq.ft. If doing 4000 sq. ft., then that is 4 gallons with 0.732oz (20.8g) of Prodiamine. In this video, you used. 3.2oz of Prodiamine with 4 gallons. I'm super confused as to why you did that. Can you explain and help me? Thank you!
@RonHenry
@RonHenry 2 жыл бұрын
Sure Michael. The .183 rate is really for cool season grass where the annual limit is .55 oz. per 1000 square feet. Using that rate assumes you're doing to do multiple applications. For Bermuda the annual limit is .83 oz. per 1000 square feet. I don't split applications which and also alternate pre-emergents between spring and fall. That's the reason for the higher rate. Again, .83 is for warm season grass like Bermuda and Zoysia. Hope this helps.

Hi Jon. I've never done that combination before. If memory serves, 2,4 D works better when applied with a surfactant so it wouldn't be ideal to apply with pre-emergent. We want image and pre-emergent to get down into the soil whereas surfactant helps the product stick to the foliage above ground. So essentially you'd be working against yourself. Make sense? 👍😎

My lawn covers around 9,000 sqft of Bermuda. I'm looking to purchase the Chapin International 63985 sprayer( I I'm pretty sure the psi is 35-40) Do you have a recommendation or guide I could follow to determine how many seconds it would take me to cover 1000sqft with this sprayer? Thank you

Hi Art. I appreciate you watching. I also have a Chapin 24 volt sprayer. When I did the calibration tests, I came back with 160 seconds to walk 1000 square feet. Not a super fast pace at all. In my upcoming course I have a lesson that talks all about backpack sprayers complete with calibration data. Always happy to help out where I can. To figure out what a 160 second walking pace feels like you can measure off a 20x50 area, fill the sprayer with a few gallons of water and then time how long it takes you to walk the 1000 square feet. This is a low risk way to learn the correct walking pace since you're only sprayer water. Let me know if I can help with anything else. Glad you found the video and that it's useful. Great question dribeker. I imagine the label likely specifies a lighter rate to provide a buffer because most people are heavy handed.
