How to Approach Rabat, Morocco in a Sailboat
One of the reasons that sailors avoid Morocco on their way to the Canary Islands is the challenging approaches into many of the few marinas Morocco has to offer. Many are located inside rivers on the open, unprotected coast line. At the sand bars that lie outside of the river mouths, the ocean swell is building up and breaking waves may make the entrance into the river impossible. Also the position, depths and shape of the sandbars are changing constantly.
