This is a great video. I bought this vacuum 2 weeks ago and let it sit in the dining room until I felt like tackling putting it together. Thank you. The original pictures, especially the step to insert the hose, just made me scratch my head and my vaccum was sitting for a month. After watching I was able to finish putting the vaccum in 5 minutes.

My Dyson Animal 2 was just delivered about 30 minutes ago and I'm here to tell you that without your video I'd never have been able to put the thing together! Thank you so much. About that 3/4 ringlike collar you mentioned, my picture assembly instructions didn't show that at all, but it WAS shown in the "looking for blockages" image. I even struggled to get the darn thing out of the box! I opened the box at the top but no way could I pull the main contents out--I had to also open the bottom end and push really hard from that end to get any movement. Without a doubt, Dyson's instructions are the worst, most useless instructions on the planet!!!! Many of the instructional pictures seem to be important (big red Xs, exclamation marks), but no explanation for what exactly they are trying to emphatically tell you what to do or what NOT to do. Tony, thanks for saving my day!

Pro tip: when unboxing vacuums, power tools, yard work tools like string trimmers etc., take photos as you empty the box. If you have to return stuff to the store, it's a virtual certainty that you won't get it all back in the box without those images!

With these new-generation instructions with pictures only, I get lost sometimes since I grew up with words *and* pictures. I know about dogs bringing the mess in with them, my beagle boy doesn't shed hardly at all, but does bring in untold amounts of outdoor crud with each trip out the doggy door!

Just took delivery of mine. I was wondering if I made a mistake and should have got the V8 instead as it seems to have stronger suction by the stats. But I just did a first pass over my entire two bedroom apartment and it's a beauty. You can feel the thing hugging my short fibre carpet and it's pretty quiet too. A lot quieter than my two year old V6. I would have liked it to have a metal tube apart from the plastic one but I guess they designed it pretty strong so doesn't matter. It's a keeper.

We just got ours, and we love it! But the only thing we are concerned about is the hose attachment. There is so much suction resistance that it feels like the hose will break on us! This also makes it a challenge to keep control of the head as we are fighting against the resistance of the suction. Any thoughts? Tricks?

Just bought one of these, doing something wrong, have to push the on button several times before it will start- tried holding it down- the only time it works the first time is when I decline it first then turn it on? Is this a defect? I have an old animal dc-14 dyson, no problems for 15 yrs, just wanted an upgrade.

I bought my the dyson vacum yesterday, and I followed your instructions, but when I tried to vacum my room, it was so hard to push the vacum that I just couldn't figure it out how to make it easier for me what about the button next to the purple one. Hi Tony and Thanks Great video! I picked up a used one the other day and the rubber piece that seals against the side of the canister is delapitated and losing suction. I need some direction on what the name of that seal would be to order another. Would it be called a PRE CANISTER FILTER SEAL??? Thanks Tony for your time!:) And thanks to anyone else on here too who may know the correct name of this rubber seal to order...

A great video. I've had my "Dyson animal2" for several years. I seldom have used the second "on" button which is only for suction and no beater bars from the base. Now I really need that feature because I bought a wool rug. Alas, that option will not engage. It's like it's not even there. What have I overlooked?

Can someone tell me where the "Tangle Free Turbine Head" goes on this damn thing?!? I had it on the wand but it spins when not in use, and it seems to have nothing in the guide.

They last forever i have the DC41 i let my friend use it and going to buy another one for the basement where i live..

On the picture instructions it shows where to "click" the attachments to store them on the vacuume. How about that part?

Might be time to take the stickers off the canister that list features for the vacuum. Since it's yours now and all, lol. I'm betting you have license plate frames on all your cars that have the dealers name and phone number! Just teasin, but I still bet that's right!

I have a problem with too much suction when using the hose attachment. Mine is so powerful I am constantly trying to pull the hose apart to make it longer. Any suggestions? thank you!

like all Dysoon products it sacrifices simplicity for cleverness which by definition is bad design. But it works well once you get around the goofy ego of the designers.

I was disappointed calling Dyson Monday. Bought to replace old Animal, which I loved. This model has no step to push the machine forward u make it ez its not. Attached hose harder to detach, and flimsy to reattach- it's garbage not for people who really clran homes- like I do. The flap by handle now has AIR intake SUCKING NEXT TO YOUR HAND, Really? Why? Dumb new design. OVERALL ,IT HAS CHEAPER PLASTIC NOT WORTH THE $500+/- I PAID. BETTER FLOOR SUCTION,But that's it. I wish I bought the lowest end model. Good Video Miss The Old Sturdy Design
