In this video we’ll show you how to attach eyelets to your shoes or boots. Eyelets (also called grommets) are traditionally used to add strength to lace holes but they can also be a decorative feature too.
Eyelets come in a variety of colours and sizes and can have a big impact on the overall look of your design. We’d recommend buying eyelets as a kit if you don’t already have the right tools to attach them. You’ll also need a kit that includes a hole punch if you don’t already own one in the right size for your eyelets.
We’d also recommend buying eyelets that come with their washer counterpart. The eyelets that come without washers are designed to splay open on the underside to secure themselves to your materials but these tend to not last as long and have sharp edges that can rub on your laces.
You can buy unbranded eyelet punch kits from online shops like Ebay, Etsy and Amazon. We also use eyelet kits from the brand ‘Prym’ which you can also find easily online.
