amzn.to/3EPaAou 4 ft levelThis is a very quick DIY video on how to attach wood to tile/concrete. As with any project how you do this depends on SO MANY FACTORS. I'm attaching a custom island to the kitchen floor of a rental I have. Because I expect a lot of abuse I drilled about 8 holes into the tile. If this is your home, and you are doing this job, I would only use about 4. If you are watching video and doing a large commercial or residential job then please consult local codes for how deep to drill and how big your fastener must be. Please leave any suggestions or questions in the comments section!

Do you need a different bit for the tile? Or just use the same bit to go through wood, tile, and concrete?

Hey boss great video. Right to the basics I’m securing a built in bench to tile floor I built the skeleton frame for the bench and I have the 2x4’s running horizontal on the thicker side, there’s a drill bit that goes down far enough right?

I’m sure there is…option would be use larger drill to drill down so you can set screw 1.5 inches or so above tile. Especially with a bench, you’re not really worried about it shifting.

Do you need to use a hammer drill? I don’t have one but I have corded and cordless. Would it work with a masonry bit?

It’s worth a shot. I have a regular drill with a hammer function on it and that works fine. To tell you the truth I have never tried with a regular drill. Let me know how it goes. I’m just assuming it’ll take longer.

What else can you use if you dint want to put holes in tiles?

You could try a construction adhesive like loctite premium adhesive. With an island, the size of the one I installed… It was so heavy it would be tough to move anyway. Drilling into the floor will guarantee it doesn’t move. Adhesive will help it not move but no guarantees

So for the wedge anchor you used 3/16 or 1/4 drill bit?

For wedge anchor use same size as actual anchor. Tapcons use drill bit 1/16 smaller than ur tapcon (1/4” tapcon use 3/16” bit)

Go to church, say ur prayers and go to town🤣…one of the reasons this was a shallow drill. This was actually post tension slab (usually stamped in garage). Jim…just get ur wife to do it she seems handier🤣

😅. Great response bud. How far can I drill into post tension? Used Loctite on wood over tile then secured my gun safe to the wood and also secured back to a stud. Like you. 😂. Pretty solid and made sure only two tiles would have to be replaced if ever removed.
