Hey man, I love your videos. I was wondering if you could ever make a video about some secret workflow tips thats used by film/epic music composers in Cubase? And workflow secrets could be anything really, maybe just go into detail what is most important to do and look out for when making a track as a film/epic music composer. The workflow in specific, thanks!

I don't think there are any major secrets, everyone has their own way of doing things. There's a lot of awesome film / game composers on KZfaq you can check out and learn a lot of useful info from. Here's some of my recommendations for Cubase based composers on YT: Blakus - kzfaq.info Dirk Ehlert - kzfaq.info Daniel James - kzfaq.info Guy Michelmore - kzfaq.infovideos Jason Graves - kzfaq.infovideos Junkie XL - kzfaq.info

I prefer Cubase's & DP's interface over REAPER but REAPER has a really convenient way of saving all of your configuration settings in one pass and as a one file. It's very quick to back up and import into a new set up. All in one place.

I like what Reaper can do and theres a great community who develop their own addons to integrate. However I'm just not a fan of the UI workflow either. I'm sure people will just say "use a skin". Which you can, but somtimes too much tinker-ability isn't a good thing. I'd waste too much time customising it to do things what other DAWs do out of the box. So in that regard it doesn't float my boat, rather have a simple workflow out of the box and crack on. *looks at studio one 5* hope C11 offers some good updates 😏

PoundSound I agree Marcus, - great name....I'm one too! I think DP has a very nice interface which I've used for the last 5 years, I bought Cubase Pro last year have just upgraded to 10.5. I like it a lot. I did like REAPER but no dedicated built in audio editor put me off a lot. I didn't find it intuitive. But it is very powerful and I use it from time to time. A nice touch us the way you can watch a video from the Media Explorer, that would useful in Cubase for us film and media composers. Your videos are very good!!

PoundSound Studio One 5 does look impressive especially with the score editing added. Would you know a way of capturing musical ideas in Cubase and curating them in one place ideally, so they can be used later in other compositions. I like to save ideas usually using MIDI. In Ableton you can drag a clip (musical idea ) on a single track or consolidate a group of clips - if they're on multiple tracks - into a scene and drag that scene into your browser and save it in folder or user library folder to use later. DP allows you to do similar by dragging or copying chunks , effects chains , single notes pretty much anything into a clipping folder that you can use later. I have used MIDI Loops in Cubase to save ideas on single tracks. This is good because I can audition them from the Media Bay. I just wondered if there is a way in Cubase to save ideas or parts of a project like in Ableton and DP in Cubase that allowed you to audition them. I think Track Archives allows the saving of ideas but I don't think there is a way of auditioning them in Cubase? DP and Ableton allow a very flexible way of putting ideas together in a project I'm just wondering if that's possible in Cubase yet? I suppose copying ideas between open projects or importing tracks from other projects allows this but it doesn't seem as flexible as Ableton or DP?

Thanks Cat, or should I say, Marcus! :o) - Off the top of my head I don't think so but I'll have a tinker around in Cubase and get back to you here.

PoundSound Great if you can find a way Marcus. I like having the option of trying out different ideas and pooling them . Cheers M!

Awesome and highly informative video. Keep them coming. I also wanted to ask something about the Plugin Collection folder; for example could I move an EQ plugin, that in my plugin manager list, sits on it's own and put it into a folder for EQ's? Can I also create my own folders that would show as the DEFAULT folders? Thanks dude

Custom preferences keep getting lost in Cubase, you must check it back in every session. Its a bug IMO
@PoundSound
@PoundSound 3 жыл бұрын
Normally, Cubase updates successfully copy over preferences form the previous version. C11 didn't seem to do so this time. So it's a case of digging up preferences from the old locations and copying them into the C11 locations.
