first of all, "proper" english doesn't exist. stop trying to police how people speak. second of all, its not her first language???? if u can understand her then it doesn't matter whether she knows to say my sister and me instead of my sister and i. NO ONE CARES. if ur just gonna complain then then why are u even here.

@@notagain945 Hello. I have a fantastic relationship with my wonderful Taiwanese daughter-in-law. She has impressed on me the importance of using Traditional Taiwanese characters and language. I come here because I have found that Miss Lin, a teacher, finds it important to explain these qualities of her native language. I sense that she finds it important to be correct in other languages too. I am here to learn, not to complain. Similarly, I enjoy playing and listening to classical music, where instrumentalists strive to excel at what they do. For some time now, I have really enjoyed traditional Taiwanese music, played by people who also teach others. They have performed at the National Theater and Concert Hall in Taipei, where I attended a traditional Taiwanese opera a few years ago, which was very enjoyable. Clearly all of these musicians place great importance on achieving high quality. There is such a thing as ‘proper’ English. That is English without slang or grammatical errors. You could look that up. There is also good English and bad English, both written and spoken, where the importance of good grammar is recognised. Being of just sufficient quality to be understood is not good enough. No teacher of quality would agree with that. As I originally said, I recognise these qualities in Taiwanese, as I do in English, and I value what Miss Lin does. I offered her a polite request and some advice, should she wish to take them, in order to help her improve her already excellent English. Interestingly, she gave my comment a Like. There was nothing aggressive or critical in my comment, I was just being helpful. Somehow, I think that your English is better than you have expressed here and I would encourage you to use it. I assure you that people do care about quality. I do offer you one recommendation though - calm down and be kind to people for the rest of your life. Should you choose to respond to this in a negative way, then I shall not waste my time in replying again. Goodbye.

@@stephenschofield6870 That's a lot of window dressing for a point that was never made. Stop policing how other people speak English. She's literally made tons of videos on Taiwanese slang as well as local colloquialisms, so your point on how she defends so called 'proper' traditional Taiwanese language and characters is out of the window. Slang is a great way to assimilate yourself into the local culture of whatever language you're speaking. Just because you don't use slang does not mean she, nor anyone NATIVE to the language, is not allowed to. Lastly, pretty sure the like was, you know, like the video is about, more about being polite, rather than asking you to piss right off that high horse of yours. 🙄 As a Chinese, you will see that I'm direct. 😉😉

You should read about prescriptivism vs descriptivism in linguistics. Natural English definitely follows rules, but it doesn't always follow the pedantic rules you are promoting. "Wanna" and "gonna" are absolutely fine as a way to transcribe natural speech, since we only say "want to" and "going to" in certain more formal contexts.
