It just occurred to me, for once the dogs actually do a number on the bad guys. I mean, a REAL number on them. Sure one died, but the other went full on vengeful protagonist mode. You don't see that happen much in horror, usually the dog notices the threat then gets killed to add tension.

@UMPGamer565
@UMPGamer565 2 жыл бұрын
@@akrilla5929 So they can break a grown mans bones lol.... It simply depends on if they are trained or not and where the initial bites connect. Humans have a lot of soft tendons/vital arteries that a dog would bite through like butter. And let’s be realistic here, most people are not in good shape and even more people are fearful of aggressive dogs/wolves so if you’re not 18-35 and in good shape and have intent to kill your chances are slim
@akrilla5929
@akrilla5929 2 жыл бұрын
@@UMPGamer565 I said a grown mans bones. And of course I'm talking about a healthy grown man. A german shepherd will never be able to break limb bones (You know arms/ legs) except the ends (small bones like fingers) that was my point. As for tendons, damage is dependant on how much force, bite location and thrashing around the german shepherd will do. Another thing is they can't do enough damage to render a grown mans arm/leg useless except if you let it happen and their is still a case of permanent nerve damage to the hands if bitten there.

I always thought that the cars of past victims were dragged and dumped into that nuke pit by the hill people so future victims wouldn't potentially see all of the other abandoned cars. And I think when the gas station clerk is about to kill himself/right after the mutant saying "daddy" was because the clerk fathered some of the younger mutants living in the hills. That's kinda the reason why he was taking care of them. At the end where he's saying, " I did the best I could" : taking care of his severely deformed children he knew were too shockingly disfigured and insane for the general public to accept.

Doug is a great father for going so far to save his baby girl and Beast is a very good boy for always having his back. Speaking of which, I have a theory that Beast (and maybe Beauty) is a retired military or police dog since he’s so good at tracking and fighting human enemies. It’s possible that the family adopted him after he was retired from service as it’s not uncommon for retired military and police dogs to be adopted by civilians. Bob might’ve even worked with him while he was serving with the police and adopted him when they both retired.

What i never understood about mutants in movies and such is... Why are they strong? Heavilly irradiated people suffer from a plethera of deformities, physical and mental, so why would they be able to fight? Like, swinging an axe or using a gun effectively actually takes a fair amount of physical power, plus if the brain is malformed (which is very commom with mutants and radiation poisoning in general) every action just becomes harder, some even impossible. I for once would like a movie where the mutants are actually frail.

Dependant on dose sometimes lesions won't occur and some people can live for years before death if death occurs. You are more susceptible to ailment during poisoning. It also has a high potential to make you sterile. No babehs, just frisbee

Bob didn't bring the fishing gear. Doug found it in a crater full of abandoned cars while he was walking towards the highway to try and get a signal. The mutants most likely used it as a place to discard the cars of previous victims as well as any belongings from the victims that they deemed worthless (a fishing rod is pretty useless in a desert and I doubt you’d get much money from selling it unless you knew some fishing enthusiasts, which wouldn’t be likely to happen since the gas station and the nuke test site are both miles away from any bodies of water). It kinda reminds me of a scene from the first Wrong Turn movie (another horror series about cannibalistic mutants, this one taking place in a remote forest in Appalachia) where after narrowly escaping the home of the three mutants, the group of victims come across a clearing in the woods full of abandoned cars and trucks from previous victims and littered with their belongings (some of which are children’s toys), showing that the mutants have been doing this for quite a long time.

Having worked 12 hour night shifts at a "petrol station" (gas station) or whatever; I can confirm the directions of sleep deprived staff tend to be naff. At the end of my shift, assuming the morning staff could be bothered to get up in time, I would regularly forget where I lived, or even where I was going. It wasn't that I didnt want to offer helpful directions but most of the time I was struggling to get out coherent sentences, let alone plausible directions... sorry to all those who got horribly lost as a result of me. Oddly, a lot of the fiddlier / riskier jobs werent too bad assuming you paced yourself. I hardly ever burnt myself whilst trying to sort the customer coffee machine or hot food orders. tbh though, the job would have eventually killed me , likely having fallen asleep behind the wheel

Lol my older sister would say similar stuff, but my childhood coping mechanism was to imagine my favourite hero/character and what they’d do to any inflicters of scares. Usually wolverine or darth vader, and for some reason imagining them dealing out some punishment made it alright lol

When I was little and saw a horror movie I’d usually have a nightmare about it. I always tried doing that thing where you take control of the dream, and do whatever you want. Only one occasion this happened where it was this movie and the master chief landed in the middle of the crater and absolutely fucked up the mutants. That was the first and last time a dream like that ever happened

going for the leg isn't the worst option since you can hit the femoral artery pretty easily, you'll bleed out in under a minute if you puncture and drag it down. However the best option would obviously be to go for the jugular.

I don't blame her for going for the leg, but she needed to follow up! Just sitting here holding the screwdriver isn't going to accomplish anything.
@thelightpost6056
@thelightpost6056 2 жыл бұрын
Going for the leg or the neck was and would have been stupid. For the leg you would have to know the femoral runs the course of your inner thigh witch most people don’t know. The neck witch is a way taller up requiring her to push her self up giving the mutant ample opportunity to just push her down. The best course of action would have been a gut stab since you can see she would just have to push her self a couple more inches up for a soon-to-be fatal stab or if she’s lucky enough a stab right thru the middle of the stomach piercing the artery behind it would kill you fast as hell. As someone who is novice in any type of combat you’ll always want to go center mass since that is the best possible chance of actually doing some damage.

Dude, the cars in the craters were dumped by the mutants to hide what they were doing, it’s where they got the gas for their generators and the things to pay off the gas station attendant or “daddy” according to the book. As for the fishing line, Doug found it among the left over items in the vehicles and brought it back to the camper with him.

Came here to say this. Also, Beast was the thing moving under the camper. Dumbass was lucky he didn't shoot his own dog. And, he didn't shoot an arm off a mutant, Beast dragged it back to camp. Pay attention lol

My grandmother accidently drove across a testing site in Arizona in the 60's. She was driving at night on dirt roads and wound up off-road and drove across a section of downed fence. My grandfather, mother, and Uncle were sleeping and woke up on the wrong side of a security gate with Grandma explaining to the very confused guards that she was just following the road. She didn't do much night driving after that.

I was a nurse in the ER for over 10 years and I once had someone come (ambulance) in that shot himself in the head with TWO, yes TWO shotguns simultaneously... and guess what? He survived. Apparently the pellets are really packed together and act as one large projectile. One shot went through his jaw and out though his neck and the other through his cheek and neck. I can only think at that time that good lord the luck to be so unlucky. While shotguns can indeed cause the head to rupture like it did here, sometimes it can be pretty clean. However he did eventually die about a year later.
