What I love about this movie is that it investigates how people are willing to be so uncomfortable just to be polite or compassionate, throughout the entire movie Aaron was clearly uncomfortable and wanted to leave but stayed because he felt bad for the “terminally ill” guy.

What great story? The only great thing in this movie is Aarons stupidity. The story is: Victim goes to murderers house, murderer does lots of weird shit INCLUDING THE ADMITTANCE OF BEING A MURDERER, victim fucking ignores that and doesn't go to the police, victim dies. Yeah it definitely seems like Aaron is meant have a lot of social anxiety, which could definitely be the main reason he didn’t just leave and not look back, but also caused him to crave friendship like you said which is another big reason why he was very tolerant of Josef. I can honestly relate to Aaron a little bit because I have a bit of social anxiety. If I was in this situation I probably would stay with Josef a little longer before running for my life than someone who doesn’t have social anxiety. To me at first Josef would just seem like a nice guy who’s a little weird. I could definitely understand why Aaron would ignore some of the red flags. I don’t really think he’s stupid for that as other people might think. In my opinion he’s mainly stupid for the stuff he did that Josef was insane and Aaron needed to get the fuck out. Like when he drugged Josef then just cornered himself in the bathroom not keeping an eye on Josef. Although I probably would’ve started to suspect that Josef is putting on an act and left much earlier than Aaron did if I was in this situation, (not to sound cocky) I could definitely understand why someone like Aaron would stay with Josef as long as he did.

to a point, but irl people who want to do harm onto others dont act like movies, they're a lot smarter and aren't as obvious with their intentions, but they usually target more gulliable / weak people because they're easier to target, common sense or just thinking about the situation your in if something doesn't feel right can usually prevent you from entering these situations. if you look at some serial killer stories, there's a sad amount of victims who could've avoided the entire situation if the just used common sense or weren't too trusty / didn't let themselves get stepped on

It'd be really interesting to see you cover Creep 2. Since Josef spends the entire movie confused why Sarah isn't scared of him, despite telling her that he is a serial killer. Meanwhile, Sarah thinks he's just some weird guy that is messing around with her so she'll film him. She is way more assertive, proactive, and engages Josef in a lot of his way behaviors. Sarah is way different than Aaron and it throws Josef off his game.

She's considerably more proactive than Aaron but I still think she gives Josef far too much leeway. I'm pretty sure Josef chooses his victims based on how tolerant they are of his red flags, so Aaron and Sarah were doomed for kinda the opposite reasons. Aaron kept giving him the benefit of the doubt bc he was essentially too awkward to leave, and Sarah was too sure that she'd figured Josef out. Btw what is it with women named Sarah and getting stuck in horror situations 😂 I swear there's _so_ much horror media with a female character called Sarah.
@widowmaker7831
@widowmaker7831 2 ай бұрын
In part 2 in my opinion Sarah was in complete denial of her circumstances (she knew she was gonna die) and instead of running fast as she could first chance she got she started reflecting her inner denials onto Josef himself in some sort of an awkward way to convince herself that she wasn't about to be murdered. I'm also convinced Josef was gonna murder her either way though the tactics he was using were not having the same effect as others and it perplexed him a bit I'm still sure he wouldn't have allowed her to go when he gave her the opportunity.

The jumpscares were way more authentic and not forced (maybe because of the lack of suspenseful music in the background). The dude who played Josef bodied the role literally. yes... and they are common. Manipulation can be really slow and not that direct or fast, rushed, aggressive and all... I would say the one in the movies goes with the second idea more (it is a movie after all, it is hard to capture the full process of truly slow one if it is not already established at the start and have a lot of time skips, not impossible probably, but it sounds hard to do so) Sociopaths happen to be more common that one would think, and i a lot more different in real life than what people imagine and expect them to be. They are not something alien, but rather different. People who grew and turned out different, a developed specific combination of otherwise completely normal things taken to different extent. They only get worse as time goes on, probably because such people seem to often be in strong inner conflict that keeps them in place. Despite often sharing characteristics with narcissists they seem to be more self aware. And oh, boy, fear one that have not just embraced but started to love themselves under the influence of the west culture of positivism and all for example. It seems they are not held by emotions (which do not mean they do not fuking have or follow them) and are able to see a lot more objectively, seeing a lot better reality as it is. (This and a lot more in them can be extremely helpful and useful) Yet reality is not for them, and that is probably one of the main reasons they act the way they do. They see reality as it is but still try to bend and change it for themselves playing by it is rules... That is one of the things that make them dangerous. I have dealt with a lot of different people, and grew up at young age, one of the most interesting people i have ever met is my current girlfriend who i know since high school. She was diagnosed as a sociopath around 18-19. She have helped me a lot and is not this aggressive manipulative predator people expect to see in a sociopath although i can't deny i can definitely see her potential to be one. Yet, she is still one of the most gentle, caring, intelligent and understanding people i have ever known. And a sad one, a poet. I have learnt a lot around her, saw her twisted world, glanced in her past... seeing an adult trying hard to be a child. I was able to spend minimum a year in the different stages since we met. Really awkward and addictive person. Knowing her i am actually a little bit confused why exactly she has been diagnosed with ASPD instead of BPD. I can talk a lot about her but i think i will stop here for now.

Everyone in the comments calling Aaron stupid are missing the point. Yes it was dumb of him to stay after all the red flags, but the point of the movie is Joseph preying on Aarons kindness- he's a wet blanket and so he lets Joseph away with the red flags. I always love your wry pessimistic observations, and especially the psychological and awareness parts of your videos. In the "how to beat" genre, whenenver I learn little bits of knowledge the character could've had that could've helped them I like learning that but from the point of view of the character it's the little (or big) yellow flags in this video that I like the most. Because you don't have to have the skills of an EMT to notice things, you do have to have knowledge to know things, as silly as that sounds. I guess it's like a puzzle. Good puzzles are ones where you can figure out what to do with the pieces in front of you. Bad ones (generally) are ones where you need some kind of outside knowledge to solve it. Barring brute force of course.

I fully get that, but let me clarify some things, i had a relative with brain tumor, way smaller than "the size of a basketball" like in the movie, and trust me on this one, it completely shuts down someones motor functions at a late stage (2-3 of months left till they die as they say in the movie, that's already pretty late) so the person behaves umm .. how to put it gently .. Let's say that if that person gets off of bed, walks, and looks around, it's considered as a miracle. (Again, AT A LATE stage.) It doesn't modify someones behavior, the person stops having ANY behavior at all. Mentally paralyzed if you will.

I also think when people combine pity with pace, it confuses onlookers. How fast he runs and how excited he seems to show Aaron all these different things - up the stairs, into the woods, ect - it is something I see in horror games a lot, it entices you to follow when the person in front starts running, especially around corners. Getting wound up in a sick mans story can seem harmless, but when I think about the time it took to string Aaron along, I wonder if the abruptness of the red flags would have confused him in real time.

My thought on how this guy has gotten away for so long is that he finds the people naive/polite enough to be murdered. Think about it. At any point in the movie, he could’ve gotten away. This psycho gave endless red flags, countess chances to just go, and the guy stayed. But by agreeing to this with no real info shows he’s either naive or desperate enough to get himself in this mess... and from there, he keeps ramping up the creep factor. The more crazy crap his victim stays through, the more he knows his limits, adn how far they can be pushed. Honestly, the killer is scary brilliant...

You have a point and it is valid he could be selective with his choosing of victims however he's like a doctor he pokes and prods at his victim putting them in uncomfortable situations but not making it so bad that they bolt it's a manipulative strategy plus add on the heart stings. I will say the biggest red flag was the lack of boundaries with tub time if anyone you just met is will to get complete nude on you you should consider that they have no personal shame to what they do it's that or they have some really rock solid ego. I will say from experience I have no personal shame or care to being nude in front of people I showerd with 90 men in a locker room multiple times but you don't see me getting happy to strip in front of someone while being recorded.

Before I watch this I prepared for the criticism I know I’m about to hear about how the victim should have survived because I seen this movie and know all to well it’s full of stupid mistakes made by the victim that led to the demise. The killer even acknowledged it in the end.

By the way spoil alert, Aaron’s biggest mistake that the Creep acknowledged was that Aaron was just too trusting. Also, Joseph most likely not the Creep’s real name

Yes, that’s one of the best indie horror films I’ve seen recently. It’s up there with Hell House LLC.

This is hands down one of my favorite movies. The way it made me so incredibly uncomfortable, reducing me to a squirming, awkwardly laughing mess is brilliant. It's not scary for the most part, just creepy. And I love it. Huge props to the actors and the team behind this piece of art.

I'd just run home in dark instead of wasting time looking for the Keys. Don't know how long the captor would stay passed out for, so I would use that time to get some distance. But I would take the Axe for self-defense and smashing my car windows to get any papers I may have left there.

The crazy thing is things like this happen all the time. Arm yourself and always be aware of who exactly you’re getting involved with. I like these videos because they also serve as a warning. Stay strapped and keep your head straight

the thing is that aaron is so stupid that the killer couldve placed a big sign: come in if you want to be killed by me by the axe you see in the front of my house and aaron would go in like: wow sign me up please i want that 🤦‍♂😂
