Great video man! For those of you considering this career, subscribe to this channel, it’s a must. Your mock check ride videos really helped me along my journey to becoming an airline pilot. I just finished my first year at the regionals, and looking back I really enjoyed the road to 1500 hours. One piece of advice I have for people getting their first commercial job, don’t be afraid of CFII positions in high cost of living areas. I instructed in LA, in well maintained airplanes and very educated and successful students. It was a great time. At first I was really hesitant to take a job in LA because of the HCOL but it was worth it and I got phenomenal experience. Plus good weather year round so it only took 2 years to get my hours.

Doing my EOC stage check tomorrow and I’m at 94 hours mostly because of work delays then having to catch up again. Your videos have been extremely beneficial and I highly recommend your courses. Btw I just turned 60 and only need my private pilot but it’s never too late to start imo. Dennis KVNC.

i got about 8 hours into my training and was trying to get my 1st class med but because i had a felony 6 years prior the FAA made me take multiple random drug tests and provide a ton of documentation. after everything they finally told me to psychiatrist / neuropsychologist and i was looking upward to 10k just for those fees and my AME told me even if i did complete those the FAA could still drag me around to do whatever nonsense they wanted to prove myself to them and that’s when i stepped away. put in about 5k and a year of my time and a ton of studying but im glad i dealt with all of it earlier than later into getting my license. i hope this can help someone make a informed decision if they happen to have the same background as me.

Well thank you explaining the FAA requirements which I have never quite understood as a British ATP pilot. There are a few flights schools in UK approved by the CAA(British FAA) with full-time courses and very experienced ground and flight instructors. These courses last approx. 13-15 months. They consist of about a month of ground school before starting flying. The flying is 200 hours, including 50 under instruction, then 25 hours(now increased to 35 hours) on a twin for instrument flying. One takes the CPL test on the single and the instrument test on the twin, all conducted by examiners employed by CAA. Equipped with CPL and I/R one goes straight to an airline for type training, then onto line flying. Years ago I did it this way. I had never been up in an aircraft even as a passenger when I applied to an airline for this sponsored course. After a 3-day assessment course I was accepted. I was sent solo after 6.5 hours, did my 200 hours and CPL flight test, then onto the twin(fast slippery Cessna 310). Then the I/R test after only 23.5 hours(extra 1.5 hours was done on test) - passed and hit the ceiling when I was told. I was sent straight to the airline and from starting the training course it was 18 months until I was in the RH seat on commercial flights. The airline sponsored 10 of us on that course and all passed. I believe that was due to the excellent instructors we had not our own abilities. As were the rest of my instructors in BA and I ended up as a Captain on B737. Does the US have anything like this? I do not know what a similar course would cost now, but people finance themselves - no sponsorships now - but are earning after 18 months and much more than I got in 1967 (£1,390 per year), but my course was free - just to p*ss you all off.

A fast track to the airlines would go through ATP flight training for anyone is the US. Some airliners offer scholarship / pay for training but its required you work for them after you get checked out and you have obtained your minimum hours.

The 100 hours of PIC time for commercial do not have to be solo. You could bring your CFI with you if you want to, you would need to have final authority over the flight.

Medical classes NEVER change. The privileges change but NOT the class of the medical. A First Class Medical is ALWAYS a first class Medical for example.

There is another way to do it. Join the Air Force. Best yet, with a college degree and a Private Pilot Certificate, you should find an Air Force Reserve or Air National Guard unit to send you to Pilot training. Get paid to log the required hours.

Is there a way into that with associate degree? Or don’t even bother until bachelor degree.
@CalebICT
@CalebICT 5 ай бұрын
@@rbreeze789 sure there is. You would join enlisted and continue to work towards your bachelor degree. Find a unit with enlisted flyers, tankers, cargo planes. Etc. this will help accustom you to military flying. I highly recommend finding a Reserve or Guard unit. That way, you are still free to pursue an airline career.

Being a dropout definitely doesn't just mean a having a back trait or making the wrong choice. For a lot of people it was the right choice. Take Steve Jobs for example, he was a college dropout.
