Totally agree on this. As a 42 yr old, who doesn't have the same quickness 20yrs ago. At 5' 9" Today I'm still able to score at will against younger, taller, much quicker defenders by simply reading their defensive stance! This took years to develop. But to younger generations, it's vital to know that basketball will always be a skills sport. If you can develop a smooth stroke, and hit from deep, and always focus on seeing that ball go through hoop ANYWHERE on the court, then it doesn't matter where or how you take that shot! Size up your defense, let them GUESS which way you'll be going, If he's a strong defender then start, stop, change direction, pull up, SCORE, all day long! If defender is smaller then you but quicker, use post moves, back him down, near the basket, turn, pull up = score. Learning how to pump fake helps a lot, being able to finish LEFT handed is deadly! Develop these skills and you'll leave your opponents shocked and talking about your skills after you've beat them, while wearing a gray beard!!! Good luck

I think it’s all about handles and scoring anywhere from the floor. If you can score and get to anywhere they have to respect you somewhere which opens up another area that you can exploit

Ain’t gonna lie this definitely help me ode no cap and this my first video I watch of your content, I’ll check to see but I hope u have more videos of specific moves or counters and do breakdowns on reading the defense or maybe window passes but keep it up Cux a lot of ppl have go to moves but don’t know when to use it properly and in game with a more experience defender it’ll be a lot more tough

I know this is an odd question but can you do a video on how to have quicker reflexes mainly on defense. I’m a quick pg but I think I’m to zoned into the game I don’t actually focus if that makes sense
@carmelowanthony7946
@carmelowanthony7946 3 жыл бұрын
Me too. What I came up with is if you just really focus on noticing and reacting to specific mouvements you can develop it into instincts. Like for example, every pickup game I played I’d focus on noticing and reacting to whenever a defender does a cross step and overtime it got easier. I’d play normally but always be thinking about it and looking for it. Hopefully that helps. Keep working bro👍👍

Quick question, on the play with cj and Draymond, when he atacks the top foot, would it have been better for him to cut right back to where he was instead of cutting to the side because he would have had Draymond completely turned around without being able to contest right?

4:49 i'm late to this vid but i guess you can also blame the speed at which you do the said moves when creating a shot since if you do it slow and somehow create space, defender could still catch you.

So should you focus your eyes on your defenders hips and if so how will you read help defense
@VisionDrivenBasketball
@VisionDrivenBasketball 3 жыл бұрын
No. This is a feel thing. You need to recognize when you’ve gotten your defender to get out of control. If you have to focus on their hips at first until you know what you’re looking for that’s fine, but that’s a much more inefficient way of doing things. It’s really all about your feel for the game and developing instincts through playing and doing this enough times.

Like how often in games. Cause you don’t wanna be a ball hog. I’m a point guard but can do this whenever I feel like it.
@VisionDrivenBasketball
@VisionDrivenBasketball 3 жыл бұрын
@@Sophia-ht2dd it really depends on the offense you run, what your coach wants, and the flow of the game. If you have a good matchup and your coach wants you to score, you can look to do this often. You also don’t have to shoot when you do this. You can flip your defender’s hips, then beat them to the basket for a layup, or maybe the help defense comes and then you can pass to your open teammate. The point is, getting good at doing this will help you become a better player overall.
@Sophia-ht2dd
@Sophia-ht2dd 3 жыл бұрын
@@VisionDrivenBasketball ty that makes a lot of sense. Our coach doesn’t really care who the main scorer is because it’s elementary aau they just teach us plays. Whoever shoots he doesn’t really care. But thx a lot!

This video really proved that players who can create their own shot > players who can only run off screens and catch and shoot so I kinda find the NBA All Stars who can't create their own shot overrated because people are only looking at how many rings they have compared to the players who haven't had any luck in getting any rings but play at an MVP level and can carry a team to the Playoffs.
