Something I sort of figured out recently that has helped me majorly to eliminate that wobble is focusing on rotating the disc around the point where the disc is pinched between my thumb on top and my middle and ring finger on the bottom of the flight plate. Thinking about "popping" off of that pivot point at the moment of release instantly gave me way better timing and control over the angle.

Gannon Buhr has an older video on his channel where he talks about his putting style and grip. His style is a whip like hyzer putt, and it's really easy to get standstill distance with it. I just couldn't get consistency with it myself since I'm naturally a flat to almost anhyzer putter. But I can definitely attest to the easy distance with his style the times when I did hit it right.

@rodf9000

No need to switch, you need many types of putts for different situations. Straddle is best for shorter putts imo, stagger is better for longer putts, including the variations talked about in this video.

Hundred footers are worth practicing, if youre playing doubles, match play, or skins, and you have a green light to run the basket. It can be a slot in your bag. I like a feather weight mid range for long, fully committed spin putts

I've noticed that the putting meta seems to be shifting in favor of firmer putts from all ranges, even relatively close. Ganon is the easy example here. I'm wondering, do you think this is because the best putters learn a technique that's effective from 100+ feet and then keep it relatively consistent, rather than having a fundamentally different putt from close range? The ultimate question for me here is simple: as somebody with a putt like Mikey's which has no chance of ever traveling 100 feet, should I keep that putt in the long term after I've learned a longer putt, or phase it out and make only minor adjustments to the long putt as I move closer only insofar as to avoid risking spit outs from the high speed which seems to be what players like Ganon and Isaac do.
@jdizzy92403
@jdizzy92403 2 ай бұрын
On Drew Gibsons video with Gannon I think Gannon has learned a very powerful putt that works from short to long distance that doesn’t really change his form and has better control of the power instead of doing a standstill approach that’s more touchy but brought up that he needs a putter that’s more beneficial to him at long distances. The links just aren’t the same as the pa-3. He loved the Pa-3 so I think his new putter will be something like that because he said he wants to innovate something new like a long distance putter for his style.

With how long he is, he should have no problem with this once he works on it. I definitely just sort of push toss from 40 feet out and often stall/high hyzer it. I will have to work on this. At least wnt to get to where I can run these putts and leave myself with a putt from 15 foot and in if I miss. Not only do many of my long putts not come close, they aren't even good layups. I am often stuck with along putt.

I only practice long putts occasionally, generally i stick to within 30ft or so. Eagle made a video years ago talking about putting and he was saying in his opinion you shouldn’t practice long putts all that much because at a certain point you aren’t practicing how to make putts, your practicing how to miss putts. Awesome video regardless though.
