Thanks for another great video, I agree that learning your style preferences takes experimentation and thought. don’t keep a journal, exactly, but I do keep my “do’s and don’t’s” for shopping in Google Keep, so that I always have my conclusions with me. It took me years to discover what I feel best in, but I often found myself buying clothes outside my guidelines because that’s all that was available. For example, I bought an inexpensive version of the long, unfitted “boyfriend blazer”. Every time I tried to put it into an outfit, I looked and felt dumpy, I need some tailoring to give me more shape, being a true rectangle. So finally, I decided to wait and not buy a blazer until more fitted and flattering cuts are available, and boyfriend blazers are on my don’t list. Manufacturers have been pushing this style because they save a ton of money on this type of blazer - there is no expensive pattern-making, piecing and stitching, etc. I’ve never seen a woman look really good in those blazers, they obscure the feminine shape and the ridiculous length makes the legs look stumpy. The processes you recommend are the best way to stop wasting money on styles that don’t suit the individual women.

Hello Marie-Anne, thank you so much for your interesting videos. I‘m Hermine, 56, from Austria. You brought me on the right path of dressing the right way. Recently I tossed away my beloved handbag I were using as a young woman. The bag‘s leather color was fading but the rest even its inside was perfect. I did it just because I owned it for so long. It was an expensive one but worth each cent. What I want to say is that I‘ve learnt from you look in your wardrobe and mix it together stylish it doesn‘t matter how old an item is. Again thank you, your are a very unique person.

You're right, dear Marie-Anne. I made a transition from coloured hair (since I was 17) to....white. I became white underneeth the dye, and now I love my real haircolour. It is stunning and I get a lot of compliments, but...WHAT I WANTED TO SAY 😉: I changed my style now, I have to wear more expensive (real and looking) clothes. Not old fashioned, but different. Great experience. And it helps looking at your videos. Really!!!!kv

Hi Marie-Anne! I am 54 years old and I'm afraid I'm fairly fashion-challenged. I found your videos through Jennifer Scott at The Daily Connoisseur a few weeks back and have been going through a lot of your content, which I am finding very, very helpful and encouraging. For example, I've never worn scarves before and now I am flagging several online that I'm interested in. I"ve never heard of a style journal before, so that will be something I'll explore here soon with your video on that topic. Thank you so much for sharing your knowledge and style with us! :-)

Bonjour Marie-Anne, Your well chosen subjects always seem to hit at the perfect time! I keep a journal about my faith and a one about my studies in a particular area but never thought about a style journal. I hope to take some of your classes (I am saving )soon. I have begun saving pics of certain styles I like and that is helpful. Your segment brought me back again to my mother and grandmother. Whenever it was my turn for an outfit (three daughters and 4 granddaughters) we would go to a dept. store that carried patterns and fabric. My grandmother would sort through with me (as I got older) the fashions for the season (only spring/summer or fall/winter), we would select the pattern and the gentleman, John, who would always assist my grandmother would show fabrics. You have evoked with your teaching so many wonderful memories in me that have led to reevaluating my style. I am beginning to have more confidence. You are a blessing. Thank you. Freddie

Thank you Marie-Anne for another Video! when I started my style journal several months ago, I began my journal with an assessment about myself, how I dressed in the past, and present day. I also talked about what fabrics I like, disliked, what fabrics I will wear and why. I had my colour analysis done to determine what colours suite me best, I'm a Winter ( turns out I was naturally drawn to those colours anyway,) it made things easier. I now write entries on my daily outfits, what I liked and disliked and why, this further helped me to discover my personal style.

Bonjour Marie Anne, great video and advice. I had a thought about doing an introduction in my style journal. My take on this subject would be (personally) to ask myself, how am I serving the principles of style. I would have several boxes to check, such as how are my colors? How are my clothing proportions fitting together and on my body. What is my outfit serving to communicate? On the other hand, sometimes I wonder if the wisest people are mimes? It would seem a much simpler life. lol

Marie-Anne you have finally convinced me to start style journaling. A few things I have noticed - 1. Now I am retired. So my wardrobe is changing. 2.Before I would try to make an article of clothing fit into my wardrobe - NOW I ask - "Does this suit my style?" 3. I'm asking myself "Why do I hesitate to wear hats? (And I own quite a few hats.. My first job was working in the Millinery Department of our local clothing store!) 4. Before my wardrobe consisted of black/white/red. Now I am starting to add other colors. For instance I've owned a spring green jacket that I'd would never wear. Thanks to you I wear it and pair it with a pair of jeans. Thank you for sharing your wealth of knowledge about French Chic Fashion. And even though I am now retired - I shall continue to pay attention to how I dress - at home or out in the world.

I missed your video last Friday but we can finally see you again! I started my style journal many months ago, and I had no idea where to begin. So I first wrote the basic guidance to build everything around that information. Body shape, best pant styles according to it, clothes that woul make my body look more balanced, accessories, etc. Then my undertone and my most flattering basic colors. Best color combinations, best jewelry colors according to my skin, what to avoid and such things. Later on I wrote about my most complimented fragrances, the ones that suit my skin chemistry, the ones that make me feel great, which one is better for this or that occasion and the ones I must avoid (chipres are so elegant but they never agree with my skin). And so on. It’s a very interesting and amusing thing to do, not to mention that it makes you understand lots of things and even discover many other that you didn’t know about yourself. This is a very wonderful and exciting world and who knows maybe in the near future I can teach my people here to have a better style. Meanwhile it’s a pleasure sharing your videos and I feel very happy when I see my friends sharing them too. Have a wonderful week Marie-Anne!

Marie Anne, another great video with a wealth of information. I began journaling several months ago based on your advice. It’s fun and can take only a few minutes a day, but the results are so beneficial! I have never been a frequent shopper, I look for quality and consider every purchase, but I have streamlined my process even more since journaling. I have developed a clear vision of the image I want to project and adhere to the guidelines I have in mind. I know what is in my closet and I know what is missing that I need to acquire. I have missed your videos. In quarantine, my routine has been diverted. I have been in quarantine in Italy since February, and have saved a fortune on my red lipstick! No use in applying lipstick when the mask covers your face! I’m looking forward to a world where we can uncover our faces and present our broad vibrant smiles to everyone on the street. I’m viewing your videos that I missed and enjoying every one. Grazie.

I think that it is more challenging for older women to find appropriate clothes. (I am 67 years old ). I am aghast at older women that dress like teenagers (leggings). Leggings look good on ballet dancers, not women with curves. Or because of their size or their curves , they wear clothes that just hang , like muumuus, that flatter no one. No matter your size. You can dress well. As you say, it just takes a little effort and the results and your feelings are worth it. I am a woman, I want to dress like one; not like a man. I like shirt dresses and sheaths. I no longer wear skirts or pants because the low waistlines do not flatter my hourglass body shape. The low waists are essentially all that is in the stores, My preferences make it challenging to buy clothes,. I buy quality, thus spending less in the long run. I feel more feminine in styles that suit and flatter me. I am often asked why I am dressed up. I’m not really. If I dress well, I feel good about myself. I don’t mind standing out from the crowd. I dress for myself.

Maxie can be very nice and jumpsuits too but always take your time before purchasing. Fit and colour is really important, both items cover a lot of your body so you don't want to make wrong choice. You should feel beautiful and confident. I don't think age has anything to do with it. At least I hope not.🤔
