Could you use a few straps to re-create a door curvature that matches the barrel, and then weld in a few rods/bars as struts on the underside of the door to hold the correct shape?

I watched a video where a guy cut the barrel lengthwise to release the "spring" in the cylinder. Then he welded in a 2" or so wide flat piece to fill in the gap. That flat piece became the bottom. Then when he cut the doors out like you did, no deformation occurred. I've never done it, but just something to check out. Great video and thanks for the content!

@@Spatchcock2 I'm not a big fan of tuning plates, and the idea that the cooking grate does not have cooler areas (as with a traditional offset smoker) kinda makes it a bit more tricky to smoke different meats at the same time.

Maybe take a bigger pipe and slot into the round stock you're bending so you dont need to worry about heat into the gloves? That's what I tend to do when bending metal like that, it really helps. Looks like maybe a long 1/2" socket extension would fit.

I am really enjoying the build series. Cannot wait to see that thing in use. I have a 36 and a 60 Lang reverse flow smoker. I've experimented with many smokers and I find the reverse flows seem to produce a more consistent product. But that is probably more of a issue with the user then the smoker. Keep it up Brad.

With all of the plasma tables out there today you could probably find someone that can cut it out for you to weld together for a reasonable price. If you have a metal supermarkets near you they may be able to do it as a lot of those stores have a plasma table. I am a share holder in 2 of my local ones, if you can't get it done locally we may be able to cut it and ship the pieces to you.
