This super easy to build DIY toy box features plenty of storage space for your kid's playroom, your entryway, or even at the end of your bed. The faux slats give it a fun look without the work of actually building it with slats.
All you need is a sheet of plywood and a 2x2 board. Easy Peesy.
You can cut the faux slats using a table saw if you have one, OR using a Kreg AccuCut and a circular saw.

I've got a 4 year old granddaugher who would love that box,it is so simple to make and looks great,every other video I have watched seems to always involve table saws and routers etc which I don't have,I could do that with my circular saw and my kreg R3.I have some 12mm MDF which will be perfect.Thank you so much for your step by step video, looking forward to any other content you upload

I love this design and your videos, just one thing I noticed, did you stagger your pocket holes so the screws don’t collide when the side and front meet the legs.? I’m all geared up to do this for my partners daughter this week. Thanks Stevie 😊

You are really good. How long did it take for you to get so good? I bought some of your plans for the closet system and the drawers and I'm pretty worried I'm going to make some mistakes. Any videos you could provide on building drawers if you don't have a table saw would be helpful.

Awesome! The hinges come with instructions and templates for where to mount. I’ve always had to mount them based on the instructions then make some adjustments as needed 👍

Hi! This toy box is beautiful! I would love to attempt it. A few questions before I do: 1.) What are the dimensions? 2.) If you were to do it all again, would you still use the banana hinge? 3.) If not, what would you use instead? 4.) What is the size of the trim piece?

Question, since you added the soft close hinges at the end, do you still need the add piece in the back + piano hinge?

Yes…the soft close won’t keep the lid aligned. It only absorbs the weight. The piano hinge keeps it in place.

You can ask me, not the community. It’s PureBond birch plywood. Try a high tooth blade or some masking tape on the cut line for cleaner cuts

Shara Woodshop Diaries Wow, you’re awesome for replying. I purchased 2x4 “oak hardwood” from Lowe’s because that’s what fit in my car. I’ll have to make another trip to look for Birchwood. Tape did end up helping out. Again, I appreciate you responding. Stay healthy.

I never have good luck with oak. Oak splinters bad...both the plywood and solid wood I’ve used. It just seems “brittle” almost. I’d definitely recommend using a very fine tooth blade with oak plywood. Birch will splinter some but not nearly as bad as oak. Birch is pretty common so hopefully you can find some. Happy to help!
