How to build a Smart Home with Google Assistant & Homey

Күн бұрынIf you're looking at creating your own smart home, you have probably come across Google Assistant. This is a great device to add voice commands to a smart home, by linking up your Google Nest speakers with Homey, you have access to Homey's list of smart devices available from a wide range of over 1,000 unique brands. Supporting multiple wireless technologies I.E. Wi-Fi, Zigbee, Z-wave plus, Bluetooth, 433Mhz, & Infrared.
Search for Homey under 'Works with Google', link up your Homey account to Google Home, and you're ready to use voice commands to control a wide range of smart home devices.

Hi, a quick tip for new videos: maybe make sure to mute a part of "Hey Google", so "Hey G****". This way Google Home devices won't start listening to the commands said in the video :)

I use it this way with Homey. Great. Are you guys planning to sync only selected devices? Sometimes its better to keep some devices with their original service in google home, but you dont want to have it duplicated. Thx

Hi! Is it wanted behavior that not all devices sync between Homey and Google Home? For example Sonos didn't sync with Google Home. I had to add it via Google Home itself. This is not a problem, i just want to know if it is intended.

I've got this already running very easily since i unboxed my homey, but for some reason when i say "tell homey i'm awake" or "i'm awake" only works half of the time. I think my flows are fine... just google who says "i dont know how to help you"

I checked the list of compatible devices with Homey but unfortunately, most of my Aeotec devices are not in the list like, nano switches, nano shutter, and water sensors. Also, the Remotec AC controller is not there. Hope you guys support more devices in order to be able to get Homey.

Are you sure? The Aeotec app shows all these devices to work. See homey.app/a/com.aeotec

Why would you buy an Homey device, cant you just use the google device? 🤔

This works great but when I ask google to for example turn off the lights in a given room I always get the message "Something went wrong for x lights". The lights still turn off.

This can happen sometimes, when Homey & Google get out of Sync. Try saying "Hey Google, Sync my devices".

Hey Peter, Sorry to hear that you couldn't quite follow the video. In this video, we start in the 'Google Home' App. You probably already have the app in order to set up your Google Home devices.
