Love this wall. I believe my vertical boards have too much of a gap. I will see once I complete it. I will probably have to attach every horizontal board with a screw. I also used 1 x 12 x 6 boards to save a little cost.
@MakerDecor
@MakerDecor 2 жыл бұрын
Hi, I have used any where from 4 to 6 screws usually. Three screws on each side does pretty well. And some times if there's a gap between the boards, you can take them out and try them in a different order. I did have one board that gave me problems. I just used it at the bottom board. And yes, wood has gone up in price, good thinking!

I did because I feel safer and didn't mind it. But some have just added a hole for any bolt on the bottom and top. So you don't need a drill and just hand tighten the bolt each time.

Very nice work there. So we'll detailed👍🏾. How heavy is the wooden backdrop of it has to be carried manually around?
@MakerDecor
@MakerDecor 2 жыл бұрын
Hi, the backdrop is meant more to be broken down and setup at each event. So all together will be heavy if tried to pick up and move. That being said, I have had to do this once. We setup at an event and then they wanted it moved 10 ft over. Pshh, so me and another guy put some piece of cardboard under it and slid it together. Since it was screwed together it went smooth. But dont really recommend as it was risky. So it is best to take apart and move. Thanks

Hi thanks for watching. Pricing is really difficult since lumber prices are different depending on where you are located. I also built this originally over 2 yrs ago and pricing has changed for wood products tremendously. The most costly part will probably be the 1 x 10s solid pine wood. I would look those up in your area and that should give you an idea. Hope this helps, thank you.

I used the 10 in, but it depends on the style you are going for. 1 x 6 will work and give it a slightly different look. Some people prefer the skinner board style. I suggest looking up pictures and going for the style that you think fits your business best. Thanks

What paint sheen did you use? And did you topcoat the white paint with anything? Thanks! We’ve had ours built for a month but still haven’t painted or stained. May just seal the wood on one side because I like the lighter wood.
@MakerDecor
@MakerDecor Жыл бұрын
Hi, I used behr exterior/ interior high gloss white paint. I did not add a top coat to the paint because I used high gloss which has a glossy top coat. If you do paint, make sure to prime the backdrop before painting as those wood knots over time want to shine through. Also, that is a good idea about just using sealer on the one side. I had thought about having two different stains on the backdrop, lighter and darker. The stain I used was minwax english chestnut I believe. But there are a lot of good stains it can be difficult to choose, lol. Good luck!

So do u nail in the same spot every event ? Or different ? And how many holes does it have now since u started using the wood back drop ? Are they noticable?
@MakerDecor
@MakerDecor 2 жыл бұрын
Hi thanks for watching. Yes I use the same spot on the post every time. I use 4 spots, one at the bottom, top and two in the center and it holds together strong. No you can not see the screws because it is small, not noticeable and blends well with rustic look. Even if I use the white wall on the other side. I still only use the screws on the wood rustic side, so the white side stays looking clean. We have used it with multiple events and no problem holding up. Just make sure to use the screws that wont go through to the other White side and its perfect. Thanks for commenting!

Hi sorry for the late reply, just saw your message. I do not sell these. If I were to sell these I would figure out what my product cost in material and then my time. But also take into account that not everybody is selling these and really only skilled wood workers build them, so that does increase the price. It takes less than a day to make but I will not just charge my time to a day as I feel I would be short changing myself compared to what others would charge to build and sell. Hope this makes sense as it is a skilled product that is being sold not just labor. I would research what others are selling similar items in your area as that would also give you a good starting point. Hope this helps, thank you for watching.

@@karinamz1673 Hi, I believe you are talking about the bottom leg supports where I cut an angle of wood. The screws aren't long, they are 3 inch screws. And I screwed them at the bottom and top so they support it well especially with wood glue. And the original backdrop is probably over 2 years old and still doing great. The wood glue was rated for outdoor use as well. The reason I did the other side metal was just for the look. I wanted the front to look more rustic and I didn't want the metal plates. I bought your plans and assembled both posts, but the hex lag screws are too wide for openings on the L bracket. Mine do look like a different size than what you show on this video.

Hi, thanks for reaching out, sorry for the late response. The only thing I can think is the "L" bracket might be different from the one shown on the plans. As most will look similar from Lowe's, Home Depot, Ace's, etc. So the holes in the bracket you have may be smaller. And this will not allow the lag screw shown to fit. The only option is to either return the "L" bracket or the lag screws. Which ever would be easier for you. Then purchase the ones that will fit. So grab the bracket at the store and find the corresponding lag screw and confirm the fit. The length should be the same. Again sorry for the issue you are having. And if you have any other questions, please message the website or Etsy platform the plans were purchased from. As I answer much faster on their. I only check KZfaq every couple of days due to the amount of videos. Thank you for your support and good luck!

Hi, sorry about that but you do not need an account. Please message the Etsy store maker decor with the order number or the email used to make the purchase. And I can send the plans there. But you need to message the Etsy website not the KZfaq. www.etsy.com/shop/MakerDecor?ref=seller-platform-mcnav
