I just did Jordan Peterson's personality test and I am extremely low in conscientiousness. Very sad, it's like having a disability. I wish I could change it. I was wondering why it always felt like everything was a burden to get done in my life.

Have you tested for ADHD? I know it's "in vogue" nowadays, but look past the stigma. It is known that people with ADHD have lower conscientiousness and higher neuroticism (more impulsive, less emotion regulation (handling stress poorly)). Even if you don't take any medicine for it, knowing if you have it helps a lot since there are many tools to try and work around the disorder.

I have always admired those who plan and get things done and just could not work out why I could not be more like them. Just learning about what being conscientious is about it a start :) I procrastinate and am easily distracted by my phone and waste a lot of time being online rather than getting things done. I have started by setting a limit of time on my phone and I have managed to get a lot more done at home.

Mega procrastinator here.I make plans and schedules but it only lasts a few days then I'm back to my old habits.Maybe I should make smaller more achievable goals and stick to it daily rather than big hard to accomplish ones.Smashed the 👍 button...now I need a new laptop🤣.

I scored 100% in neuroticism on the Big 5 test and verrry very low on conscientious. If negative points were possible, I'd have that. I know neuroticism is not likely to change, so I've been feeling down that neuroticism is an all around negative trait unless paired with conscientious, so hearing that conscientious is flexible brings me great relief

Thanks for this video. Do you know of any tips for someone who has both low conscientiouness and very high neuroticism like me? I can't deal with stress, so allocating a block of time or having others hold me to account will just make me have a meltdown from the stress. I have to do things at my own pace in order to relax and stay stable. I have quiet/self destructive BPD as well.

Oh, that is a tough combination! If you can build up your conscientiousness even just a little bit it will help you buffer your neuroticism. I would say focus on setting very small, achievable goals to help you slowly build better habits. Be patient and flexible with yourself since the goal is to make your life better, NOT more stressful. If you are seeing a health care professional for your BPD I bet they will have some individualized ideas for you as well.

@@dr.sherry4238 Thanks so much for the kind reply. I will try out your advice and not put too much pressure on myself. Maybe a goal of just keeping my home in order for now? I live in the UK so have been waiting over 4 and half years for DBT, but I'll try and be more assertive with mental health services and once on I'll relay my conscientiousness issue to them. Thanks again 👍 I wish your channel success.

I still think your advices weren't very concrete. That helped me, but some people who are in really dummy levels probably won't be able to implement much of a change.
