In this video, we'll show you step-by-step how to build bass traps specifically designed for the upper perimeter of your studio. These bass traps will help control unwanted low-frequency resonances, allowing you to achieve a more accurate and balanced sound.
Follow along as I build these bass traps, explaining the materials and tools used at each step of the process. Your material choices may vary based upon your location and budget, however you can apply the principals of this video to what is available for you to build your own upper perimeter bass traps in your home or commercial studio.
Once we're ready to start building, we'll guide you through the construction process. We'll demonstrate how to measure and cut the acoustic materials accurately, assemble the frames, and securely attach them to the upper perimeter of your studio walls. Our instructions will be clear and easy to follow, even if you're not an experienced DIY enthusiast.
Whether you're a music producer, podcaster, or content creator, having a well-treated production studio is crucial for achieving professional-grade sound. By following our DIY guide, you'll have the knowledge and skills to build effective bass traps for your studio's upper perimeter, creating an acoustically optimized space to enhance your audio production.

shouldn't there be an air gap in the back between the surface and the rock wall?

Proper rockwool + airgap works even better than only rockwool, but on that little space is practically impossible to do.

man how beautiful you are open sourcing your products! lovely mentality, thanks for the efforts! 5:07, if I'm not mistaken you are cutting same size of wood pieces? if I need to cut 8 equal pieces from a timber I cut a piece from timber that is 4 x size of the piece (adding 3 x cutting disc witdth) then bringing two timbers together and cutting 2 x piece length + cutting disc width and then cutting all 4 pieces together by the piece length, and one last cut for the piece that has the excess. It goes much faster without re-measuring it.

Hi and congratulations, could I have the precise dimensions of the triangle? One is 17 and how are the other two calculated? Thanks for your help

awesome stuff.. how do you keep the Safe N Sound from bulging out over time? Those reinforcement braces along the way and tight fabric? I was thinking of doing something similar but also stapling a plastic sheet across. Shouldn't affect the lows any but might contain the fibre dust, hold the S&S in place, and reflect some highs back into the room.

It’s kind of hard to see in the video but I cut the triangles big enough so that they are catching on the inside of the bass trap frame. These should not drop or move over time. The plastic sheet idea would work well too! Thanks for watching

REALLY COOL BUT WITH THOSE WIDE FRAMES YOU ARE LOSING A LOT OF REAL STATE ABSORPTION...AND I THINK THE WOOD FRAMES ARE THICKER THAN NECESSARY... YES ARE STRONG BUT COULD BE A BIT THINNER AND OVERALL GAIN MORE ABSORTION...WHAT IS THE KIND FABRIC YOU ARE USING?

Nice. But those aren't bass traps.

@@daneoates8099 They will only treat high and mid frequencies. Actually making the low frequencies stand out even more. The materials used are not going to treat low frequencies. Look up real bass traps, they are quite complex.
