I'm thinking of making more technique focused tutorials for my gumroad, but I'm still thinking of different ways I could help people to actually learn painting through learning materials rather than just watching me paint. KZfaq is good for quick tutorials and I'm going to keep making them for free but the new changes google has made makes sequential content almost impossible to make (I'm lucky because gaming channels are seeing their watch sessions completely fall apart due to that) and when I consider how long it takes to edit one hour of video it just wouldn't make sense to me at this point. Another aspect is the way people use this platform. 100% of the questions in my pixel art tutorial were answered in that same video. If they were watching the video outside of the platform I'm sure they wouldn't have been so impatient with the process.

5hours to me would feel like an amazing slam dunk of an illustration where everything went right and no strange detours were taken >__> (and yes after every livestream I feel like slumping on the bathroom floor amazed that all that happened in 1-2hours XD)

angrymikko 5 hours on a simple landscape that doesn’t even look anywhere near what you want it to look like is just SUPER frustrating though! I was so angry at myself for neglecting my traditional pencil skills all these years 😭 I honestly can’t believe how much you accomplish in 1-2 hour live-streams! Same! The thing I struggle with the most in making the switch to digital is I find I have no qualms abandoning a piece bc all that was invested was my time. Good luck!

Step by step tutorials is just stupid. There is no steps, but there's a proccess for each person and people find that jard to put in words so they just use that methods. I suggest that they just don't do it tbh, it's not as helpful as they hopes it would be, it confuses people who genuinely want to learn.

Use references whenever you need them to get your message across but never let them to take over what you want to say. Find what your artwork is about and then make that a priority. References and 3d models are just scaffolding for the building you’re making. They’re not the house.

I used to have this problem. I only used references and drawing from something formed by my imagination seemed impossible. The way I solved this, is I slowly let go of the references. Little by little I used less references.what I mean is, I still used the reference but I gave it something that I came up with. Once I was confident in my abilities and in my imagination. Now I still use references for scaffolding if the artwork is complicated but I am much more confident my imagination now. Hope this helps you out! 😁🌸

That makes me really happy to hear. If you ever feel like trying I don’t recommend starting with something this complex. Wouldn’t want you to be burned out right in the beginning :)

Now that I have time (no job) and a Gumroad page I’m thinking of doing more technique specific practical tutorials that can be as long as the topic requires without having to think about yt algorithm and retention stuff. If there’s something specific you’d like me to cover in those let me know. Though I hope people understand I can’t cram everything into one thing. Anyway that’s something that is coming but it’s going to be a lot of work so I can’t commit to any specific date yet. There’s also a possibility that I’ll start a Patreon page instead if I can figure out the details, but at least one of those things will happen because I want to keep this channel alive.

It’s complicated here in Finland but I’ve been in contact with the tax office staff for the past two weeks to see how the details would work. It’ll still take at least 3 weeks before they _might_ get back to me.
