12:14 Two mods that can help with the render distance showing the entire perimeter are Distant Horizons and Nvidium. Distant Horizons needs to generate LODs for each chunk and works on all hardware. Nvidium renders the chunks as-is, but requires an Nvidia GPU and may end up slower at render distances > 128. For my private server, I loaded the map up in single-player, generated medium/high-quality Distance Horizons LODs for everything, and included that ~300MB file alongside my modpack so the other players would start off with a semi-accurate map of the world.
@izckk

I was about to suggest Distant Horizons as well. Ever since I discovered it, playing without it has become difficult for me. I typically play SMP, where the server-side render distance is normally set pretty low.

I will say that it seems WILD to me that someone building the previous design didnt try to take the time to understand it well enough to know where concrete and glass could just be swapped for mundane material in survival
@cubicmetre
@cubicmetre 6 ай бұрын
The problem is I used glass in many places that I didn't need to, and that means when people try to substitute the glass for solid blocks it can cause issues with the solid blocks creating short circuits between components that were previously insulated by the glass.

I tested in 1.20.4, I can confirm that this is working fine :) Small tutorial to help other people... This machine uses very complex mechanics, and as such, require very specific conditions to work properly. I'll try to give an overview of what's required. First, you have to know that there are 2 game settings that you can adjusts, which can be confusing, the "Simulation distance" and "Render distance". The simulation distance is what will dictate how far you need to be from the machine when it's running. This is what will be used by Minecraft to determine which chunks are entity processing (i.e. normal chunks around the players where every aspect of the game is updated), and which chunks are block processing (redstone is updated, but not entities, a.k.a. lazy cunks). In the test world, there is one red pad above each machines, and there is one green pad located 16 chunks from the machine (look on the grass field, behind the machine, i.e. not in the "shooting" direction, but the other direction!). All those pads are aligned to cover the area of one whole chunk. Those pads are mainly for reference, a "guide" used when building the machine or when operating the machine. When operating the machine, the red pad must be in lazy chunk (which include the front of the machine), while the main bulk of the machine must be in entity processing chunk. For this condition to be easily set, this is why there is a green pad (as a reference). So, there is the green pad, where the player must stand during the whole operation of the machine, and there are 16 chunks in between the green and the red pad. So, for the red pad to be in lazy chunk when the player is standing on the green pad, you MUST set "simulation distance" to 16 (in the video settings). Note that if it's more convenient, if you prefer to use a different simulation distance (for example, if you are on a server with a limited simulation distance), then you will need to adjust the standing position while operating the machine (adjust the green pad location accordingly). In the test world, the red and green pads are set 17 chunks appart (i.e. red pad, 16 "in-between" chunks, green pad), so it is made with simulation distance of 16 in mind. When you stand on the green pad, the chunk you are in, along with all chunks in a square up to 16 chunks away from the player, are "normal" entity processing chunks, and all chunks that are exactly one more chunk outside this bounding area are lazy chunk (where the red pad need to be). I know, this can be confusing, but as I said, this is complex Minecraft mechanics for uninitiated players. (Edited): As for the "render distance", you should also set it to 16 in this case (same as simulation distance). I originally taught that it didn't matter, but if it's higher, the chunks containing the stone you want to phase the TNT through will be loaded (to be rendered, even though no processing occurs past the lazy chunks). In this case, when Minecraft check the trajectory of the TNT, it sees that there's a wall, so the TNT does not phase through (all TNT ends up exploding at the front of the wall). In any case, the render distance is lower than simulation distance, it has higher priority (if you set simulation distance to 16, and render distance to 12, the effective simulation distance will be capped to 12). To activate the machine, cubicmeter pretty much sums it up. As a starting point, you need to go to the console where there's a sign named "Operation Duration". That is the number of "run" the machine is configured to do. Bellow this sign there are 2 droppers. Just right-click on the bottom dropper, and move some redstone dust to the top dropper. Note that you should keep the total number of redstone across both droppers to 9 stacks (i.e. just move the right amount of redstone dust from bottom dropper to top dropper, returning the rest to the bottom dropper). The indicator on the left (the 3x3 redstone lamp) will start flashing as soon as the bottom dropper is not full. When the machine finish, it will move the redstone you put in the top dropper to the bottom dropper (hence why you must move the dust from bottom dropper to the top dropper, leaving room in bottom dropper for it to come back when the machine terminate). The number of dust you move to above dropper (the operation time) is just the number of "runs" to execute. So, if the Infinibore is set to dig 10 layer deep of TNT, and you put 3 redstone dust in top dropper, then the machine will dig 10 layer, then run again and dig 10 more layer, and again one last time, digging a total of 30 layers deep. Once you moved redstone dust in top dropper, you can prime the bore (by right-clicking the note block). The prime bore lamp will turn on. With your simulation distance set appropriately (16 in the test world), go to on the green pad and STAY THERE. The machine will not start until you go to the green pad. The machine "knows" when to start (when the front of it is in lazy chunk) using a simple entity processing detection mechanism. The minecart rattling at the front of the machine, it's an entity. And it is constantly pressing on a golden pressure plate. The plate is just a "stopper" that stops the machine until you go far enough. When you go on the green pad, the minecart (which is an entity) now ends up in lazy chunk, and Minecraft stops prossessing it. The pressure plate, a redstone component, still get processed. So the result is that this plate stops getting pressed. Redstone signal stops getting generated from this plate, and the machine detect this (this remove this "stopper", and the machine start). In this world, the bottom machine is burried underground. It's not easy to see the progress. If you test with the top bore, then you will see at a distance the bore progress (easier if you have optifine or NoFog mod and turn the fog off). You can also monitor the game performance (by pressing F3 + 2). On the bottom right there is the TPS meter. While the machine is preparing the TNT, there is minimal lag. While the machine is shooting it though there will be significant lag (like 1 second lag spike every other second) for a few minutes (the duration depend on the machine settings, i.e. how deep you are boring). Then, when the lag eventually ends, that is a good indication the bore is completed. You can always tap a wire to the 3x3 indicator and bring it to the green pad if you want :-)

Yeah I actually tried to make the old version on one of the servers I play on, and I noticed these issues and they were the main reason I never ended up finishing it.

Question regarding your precision nuke machine: I saw someone comment on the video you made about it something like "I have another idea. You need to make a “chunk ban orbital strike”", would it be possible to throw an entity with an adapted version of the cannon (ideally in a minecart so it doesn't die of fall damage)? Something like a pigman carrying a chunk ban shulker in a minecart/boat that arrive at destination. Less destructive for the game but far more dangerous for the players. The only thing I'm not sure is how do you make sure that neither the boat/minecart get destroyed or the pigman die. Unfortunately I haven't done redstone in forever so I'm not totally sure how you would do this

Are you working on any method of item collection for operation where 'keep items' is on? Seeing an item sweeper capable of picking stuff up would be really cool, or maybe a flying machine allay dock that could sweep through and use them to pick up stuff

Question. How could I safely use the infinibore on a server with automatically varying simulation distance? Context: the server I play on has poor hardware, so it's got a mod installed that dynamically changes chunk-tick, render and simulation distance based on the number of players online. The smallest simulation distance is 3 (with about 6-7 people) and largest is 8 (1-2 people). Would a chunk loader work instead of a player? Just seems like it'd be more reliable, seeing as the distance they load is smaller than the variation range. Yeah, I'd need multiple (assuming they work), but that's not much of an issue.

Well the other issue is other players going and loading the bore. But dynamic render distance is not a very good way to save on performance because it sacrifices the gameplay. There are optimisation mods that achieve much better results without needing to sacrifice gameplay.

This was good but can you make like a step-by-step tutorial on it because this doesn't really tell me how to build it. Great work on the design though! You're like the only youtuber I can rely on to make ultra-efficient farms :)

A possible application of this would be demolishing some of the end islands so the end gateway spawns farther out. The gateway will spawn at the nearest piece of solid land.

This guy has completely revolutionized the Minecraft world. I don’t think it’s even really set in for him just how much of an impact he has just made. Many SciCrafters have done some pretty cool things but he is the only one who has done it 100% correct. Many great things to come in the world of Minecraft gameplay, and his designs are going to play a pivotal role in the years to come.
