Got my ht for $200 from an old guy junking his car. No dents or breaks in the glass. Only thing wrong was the paint was faded but since it’s it wasn’t the same color I painted it white anyways for another $100... deal of the century... this was at the start of Covid

I am a VW, Vespa, Moped Ruckus kinda of dude... Then a few years ago I offered it to my nephew, but told him "YOU GOT TO WORK ON IT! I can't cuz if I do... I MIGHT like it!" The dude never showed interest... then one day I changed out the belts on it & BAM!!! This thing is RAD! Been working on just keeping it running /maintained. Too much fun! They don't necessarily need to make new hardtops, they can just restore the one it already has if someone sends in a Miata with a hardtop. From what I've seen, they only give you a new soft top rather than a new hard top

In 2015 i bought a 1 owner 1990 Miata with oem hardtop for $1250 still have the car today and doing a complete rebuild, crazy to see how the prices have changed over the years!! Love this channel and your content 🙏🏼

a LOT of Miata drivers are older than you think, before the young guys started liking them we were racing them, and still do. I am 55 and on my 4th miata, my last 99 was a national SCCA champion

Hardtops in the UK vary between £200-£400 based on condition. Also there’s Tommy Walkinshaw Racing hardtops which were made before the oem mazda tops. They can come under £200 because people have issues with them sealing. I use a TWR top with the standard latches and rain rail without any leaks!

I called a couple of dealerships around the LA area and got a ton of “discontinued”. Actually went through and ordered through an online dealership website with a listing up and it got cancelled a day later. Finally ended up finding one with side latches + hardware + the same color as my car 25 minutes away for $1900 and jumped on it. Made a good friend and was able to get a hardtop within a day.

This was so helpful. I'm gonna try with my local dealerships, but in Hawaii I'm pretty sure the answer is gonna be no. Our local Miata community is actually much older than most, so I'm betting that the dealership just won't play with us because the local hardtop market is completely nonexistent. 😩

Fair comment. But keep in mind, a majority of the hardtops people are selling/buying aren’t in the greatest of condition with paint(seeing as they are 20+ years old) and that’s not considering the fact it’s probably not going to be paint matched to your car anyway. In a lot of cases people are buying hardtops that don’t even match due to the demand. If anything it’s ready to be painted without the need for prep work. That saves money and time. If you can get one for under $3k, I’d say buying it new is the best possible deal. You’re literally getting a brand new hardtop...

Bought my hardtop this year for $700 with no glass, heated top, came with all latches, no cracks. Paid $0 for heated glass and installation thanks to insurance free glass replacement, stupid lucky.

From working at dealerships for years 98% of parts guys don't even bother to look into parts further or go the extra mile, I have only met 2 parts guys that were excellent at parts look up and knowledgeable both were 20 plus years experience at the dealer.

I just picked up a perfect paint and condition hardtop for 1500. i see them for for 2000 tops in central US.. I really dont think you guys are seeing them for 3000+$ ... Also that 2500$ price tag doesnt include paint or anything so probably another 3-500 for that

Just took a look at Ebay UK.. Hardtop in good nick, with stand & storage cover....£480 or $830 , ranging from £250 ( rough, respray needed ) to £650, which is up from a couple of years ago, Paid £350 for mine 2 years ago in great condition with original storage bag, Rather have your fuel prices though :)

This fall I’m probably going to sell my 93 cherry red hardtop and get a Robins tan canvas soft top with zippered defrosted glass to replace my torn original. I hardly ever use the hardtop. I’ll pay to get it installed, and I’ll come out ahead. I just have to convince one of my neighbors with a heated garage to let me overwinter the car.
