Thanks so much! We have digital thermometers which- melt in the oven turn black near the fryer and if water hits them they’re done Lol I have the metal one shown here which is 100% better

So since you put water with the ice is that why 30 would be accurate? Or is al.lst accurate?

What if I dont have zero Celsius (32 F) on my thermometer? The range I have is 140 F to 190 F.

NO this is not a candy thermometer. There is a specific thermometer for candy-making. A good grocery store will sell them.

Well I have a meat thermometer with an adjusting nut, but the lowest temp is 120°. The highest is 200°. So I guess I'll have to use a candy thermometer, heat the water to apx 120° and adjust the thermometer to that!

You can't heat water above 100. It will boil before that point. Unless you are talking about 100 F?

It’s best to put the water in a cold place, and put the thermometer in there so that the temperature taking part is slightly below the surface, like 1/4 inch deep, then wait for the top layer to freeze, and then see if it’s reading 32°F, otherwise the liquid water might be too warm and effect the reading. So the thermometer could have been accurate at first.

This really makes no sense because it can easily be inaccurate by a few degrees. Ice water in a glass can be 30 to 34 degrees. The only way you can get this right is by using another accurate thermometer

Water can actually reach 32 without freezing. If it is mostly ice, & very little water, (works even better with crushed ice) then you really get 32. Dropping a few pieces of ice in a glass of water is not the same at all

@@miyoshiumeki I usually calibrate these with my room thermometer and hope they are accurate. I use them to check dryer temps.
