Trolling for Mangrove Jack has been on my list for quite some time. This summer I was determined to master the art and in this video I share with you some of the techniques , tips, tackle and tactics I use when targeting these prized summer species on the troll. Great info mate, just curious how far back do you have your lures sitting when trolling. Cheers great video.

Cheers mate, I usually run the lures approx 20-25m back , one shorter than the other, that seems to work fine. GTs don't mind too much and will hit a lure quite close to the boat , Jacks however are a bit more fussy 👍 thanks for watching 😉

Hi Lachlan, Daiwa Double Clutch and Evergreen Gran Searcher are both versatile lures and are productive on both species 👍

How far out off the rock walls is your lure you when your trolling? I always imagined you'd wanna be pretty much on top of it but you look to be a few meters out?

Hi, its very dependant on water depth at the drop off & the lure that your trolling, the ones u use dive to around 2m which works well in my system. I have spent quite a few years sounding out the best territory and in summer foucs my efforts on these spots. Submerged rocky edges/outcrops, deep drop offs and canal openings are my faves. A lot of the time I'm trolling 3-4m off the edge of the bank 👍

ive tried trolling in the GC lakes systems but my 30hp 2 stroke seems not to idle slow enough without shaking the boat down and I have no idea what speed im doing

Yeah even my 4 stroke , rattles my tinne at slower speeds , I guess that's just an inherent problem with Ally boats , it would be accentuated with the 2stroke tho. 🤔
