Fishing the the beach with sandeel baits for Turbot -
In this video I head out for a couple of hours fishing from the beach for turbot.
This video is ideal for beginners that are looking to learn how to catch turbot from the beach.
I hadn’t targeted turbot for a few years and since starting this KZfaq channel I was itching to give it a go and see if I can get one on camera during a quick morning session.
Conditions were ideal after my night shift so I headed out straight out from work to give it a try.

Just up the road from where I live on the isle of man UK 🇬🇧 there was one of only 2 turbot farms indoors in the UK and all their produce as far as I remember was shipped to China, I don't know how long it was there but I was a long time, I went for a job interview there and wow did they have some monsters, they're my favourite looking UK flatfish, thanks for the upload ps fished all my life and never officially landed a single flatfish on rod n line targeted all in every way had a few on but sadly hook wasn't set or they hasn't even eaten the bait they were just following behind an already hooked coalie nipping at the flapper trace still baited, I've fished nearly 40 years I've just been unlucky cuz I've had tonnes of success with almost every other species of fish live tight to sandy shingle etc.

I had a couple of twin tip pieces of rod in my shed that I never used so I fitted real seats on them and a cork handle and made 2 6ft kayak rods which are awesome lol

That sounds great. I might invest in some boat quivers to use on the kayak theyd be great for the bream & bass.. At the moment I’m using a pair of 6-12lbs ugly sticks

@@FISHISLANDTV Yeah I've got ugly sticks to which I've always used on my Reload but I've also got a viking 2+1 which is rigged up for fishing for when the misses comes out with me, she isn't bothered what rod she uses so I made a couple. I made them well with epoxy, they look awesome and are perfect for catching cod Pollock and bass. I actually use them myself when I go out.

Firstly, why the fook didn't I get a notification for this video? NGL, I _INSTANTLY_ click to watch your vids, Sam. Maybe I just missed the notification after work when there were loads to get through? Anyhoo, better late than never! 😁 Secondly, what sorcery is this? Turbot from the shore? I never knew that was even a thing. I thought you had to jump on a boat and drift the sandbanks. I am such a noob, at 52 years old!! 😬 Thirdly, I finished my 6-month probation period at my new job in Cornwall on Thursday, last week. Never received such high praise before, made me blush!!! Got the contract, so it's official, we ain't going back up north, not now, not never!!! 😋 Keep the vids coming please Sam, the work that goes into them, and the knowledge shared, is _ALWAYS_ gratefully received! Especially when the good lady has had me grafting in the garden all day today, when I could have been fishing!

Ahh that’s a shame RE notification.. but at least you got to see it in the end ! a nice surprise perhaps! I’m well chuffed about the job for you and you get to stay down south so plenty of fishing time! I’m pretty sure you have scope to catch these round your end too matey! nice clean beach is ideal ! Thanks again for watching as always!

Well done mate that's brilliant. I live in sark and I have caught lots of turbot from the boat, some bloody big ones. But every time I try from the shore I just get dogs and spider crabs.

@@FISHISLANDTV the fishing has been hard work so far this year unless you like dogs and black bream, but there has been some couches bream. I am hunting guilt heads at the moment but haven't seen any yet this year. Hopefully things start to pick up now that the sea temperature is rising.

@@FISHISLANDTV Do you ever use any attraction for the turbo's bud? I produce weights, pop ups ECT and I find a common successful colour seems to be pink!?

In all honesty bud I don't although I have toyed with the idea of putting a little blade on the hook length but not tried it yet.
