When you say to grease up the o ring, do you have to use a specific grease for WB?

Can I ask a question, please and get some advice. I have a new (3 month old) Worcester Bosch Greenstar boiler. The boiler has been off all day, yet suddenly there was a discharge of water from the boiler through the condensate pipe (I estimate about 100 ml). The boiler HAS DEFINITELY BEEN OFF for I would say 20 hours. The sound, appearance and volume of the discharging water was exactly as it is when the boiler is on and condensing, but as I say, the boiler has been off for many many hours. I can't work out why this is happening - the only thing I can glean from a search to the question "why is my condensate water pipe discharging water when the boiler has been off all day" is that water is leaking into the condensate collecting tank and as soon as it reaches a certain volume it is discharging. I also am seeing words like "cracked heat exchanger" The outside temperature is 12 degrees centigrade as has been like this all day. Surely my boiler / heat exchanger can't be faulty and leaking water after just 3 months? Please help, I am extremely anxious. Thank you.

I realise every boiler company tries to make their boilers compact so they fit in kitchen cupboards etc. Why don't they make a version with exactly the same components but in a much larger case. Lots of boilers are mounted on garage walls or utility rooms etc where space isn't an issue. It would make repairs and maintenance a lot easier. Also Combi boilers could be made with the plate heat exchanger pump and expansion vessel external thus making it much easier to work on.

Try doing it on a old boiler in a dusty old loft with a jw , ( job watcher) telling you how to do it better .

2019 Help please! just had a boiler instaled just before Christmas, already had a water pump replaced due to noise, now we have a noise that keeps repeating every three minutes for thirty seconds or when you turn the hot tap, it's like a machine gun low sounding, surely this isn't right is it? Does the unit have two pumps, one for hot water and one for rads? Greenstar cdi clasic erp

Get your installer back on the case. Could well be a baffle or a loose component. I've had a fan loose on installation too. Your boiler should have manufacturers warranty. I can only suggest you call back your installer to rectify it, good luck.

Allen, had my Worcester Bosch COMBI installed for 4 years now, there is a filter fitted to the heating side, i live in a hard water area, and worried about limescale build up on the hot water side, i did ask the installers who are gas safe, they quoted maybe wrong, because the heat exchanger expands and contracts there will be little chance of build up, is this right, or would it pay to have a filter fitted to the hot water side, i have done the cheapo thing most people do clamp magnets to the cold feed to maybe reduce limescale build up, any advice great, the boiler i have is an greenstar or something like that ??

Is it wise to remove heat exchanger just for cleaning, like if the boiler is located in tight compartment space on top side.

If you're competent you'd know you don't have to remove the heat cell in order to clean it. There's specialist tools available for this. I suggest you call a Gas safe registered person to do this.

ghostmanromeo uk I have spoke with Worcester, they said it is absolutely fine to remove heat exchanger for a cleaning purposes, if boiler is located in tight compartment space

If you are changing one due to a leak there's probably corrosion in the base of the combustion chamber. If you try and force the heat exchanger up with a screwdriver you will pop the rivets on the right hand side and front of the chamber. Trust me they don't come out that easy at all. I spent 45mins this morning trying to get the heat exchanger off the return pipe.

@@ronntifs476 I lube it with Wd40 have a cuppa and wedge it up and out with a Glaziers plastic tool. Changed 4 of these damn things in my time. Worcester need to start listening to the installers. I steer clear of them now. The longevity of these boilers are shit. The plastic goes brittle on the ret/flo manifold after a few years. The fans can be super shit too. Not the best to service either. But still better then the Cdi range. Viessmann on installs or baxi's.

I always order the return pipe. If it’s struggling to come out, cut it with a hacksaw. Job done.

It's funny when a boilers full of shit parts dont come out so easily and the boiler location plays a bit part. Workshop and on site a miles apart. heat cell cost around £300.00.

Worst to work on to change any part need to remove many connections. Prefer vaillant ideal baxi than worcester

Shame their hydraulic blocks are crap, made of plastic. Have had to replace so many parts as the cheap plastic parts corrode

@@AllenHart999 Its rushed and he's missed important points out, the trainer needs to remember that people watching a video on you tube probably havent done it before or they wouldn't be watching a you tube video. Unless I missed something he didnt mention the two retaining screws at the back of the heat cell, he didnt mention what postion the black return pipe clip should be in when popping it out (left or right??) he just said ignore the book, he didnt mention to take the condensate trap off seems obvious but if he is a trainer should be giving a reminder at that point and he also could have mentioned important things like when putting the fan back on there are 4 lugs one of which is larger than the other 3 to aid lining up the fan when reassmbling. I just think it could be done better, me and my lad just did our first one and the video is not idiot proof and I am an idiot with red knuckles a bent screwdriver and a boiler thats pissed. Might do a video myslef british army style black and white or maybe I am expecting too much. Anyway I only said sack the trainer when my heat cell was stuck and I had bent the boiler, was a bit harsh I'll take that bit back now it's done ha :o) - Logic's much easier to work on.
