Just to clarify, "end bit #7" is a 7mm hex. T45 torx bit is a worryingly good fit when you're working blind : ( And yes, I did take the reservoir cap off first. Good vid, but : )

Great videos, really like them! One question I have, would 308mm break disc (from Astra H 2.0T) fit on my Astra H 1.8 VTi (original is 280mm disc)? Because calipers of both engine config seems to be the same size - 1 piston of 57mm. Thank you for your thoughts

I’ve put my new discs on and tightened the calliper bracket, when I move the brake rotor I have a loud screech as if it’s binding. I’ve tried taking it apart again to clean then put it all back together including the calliper with new pads and still there’s a bad screeching sound. Any ideas what this could be?

Make sure to re torque all bolts as they would have been in the factory and copper grease brake pads to stop sqeaking mainly on older cars though.

Either the brake fluid reservoir cap or or bleed valve should be opened prior to pushing back the brake cylinder. You are likely to blow the master cylinder if this is not done.

I’ve done all this and removed the reservoir cap and now my breaks don’t work at all they have gone really soft and pedal goes to the floor, would this mean that I now have to bleed them?
@milogaming5556

@@shropshirehistory908 yea just bleed them thats all you need to do
@shropshirehistory908
@shropshirehistory908 2 жыл бұрын
@@milogaming5556 are you sure!? because with not taking a pipe off and not loosing any brake fluid I really shouldn’t have too….so that could be another problem don’t you think!?…you sure I don’t have to test the abs system and make sure there isn’t an air leak in the system!? Or maybe it could be the master cylinder diaphragm has flipped inside out, or maybe it has a hole in it and pushed air back in the lines, technically that shouldn’t happen if the lid off the reservoir is removed which it was or bleed nipple opened….so I’m going to say no bleeding them wont be all I have to do!…thanks for your comment but i don’t think it’s even an option as they shouldn’t need bleeding so I’m going to say I have a knackered master cylinder so a 2nd opinion off someone who knows about cars an abs systems would be better but thanks.
