I've never imagined it's this bloody difficult to change the air filter. First to remove the sensor connector I might need to get some tool, I can't do it with my hands, I just left the box on the car, then you said "Just ease that back in" - I could not get the new filter on without using silicone lube/spray on the rubber gasket with a Mahle filter, I pushed so hard that the white foam actually got off it a little bit. I tried water but you need lithium/silicone grease on the rubber and plastic pipe. I actually think I have to buy a new filter and do it again. Disassembling the box requires a flat head screwdriver/plastic prier. The last, but not the least we have that rubber damper, it fell off/moved like 5 times and almost fell down, I'd suggest to get some double-sided adhesive tape for it. Pay a lot of attention to the rubber hose, if you don't tighten it well you'll get a leak and it's very bad for the engine. If anyone follows this video, keep in mind that this is much more difficult than in the video and you will need extra time.

That black rubber bung was missing from my motor whilst checking a damned vibration. Found a cork cut in in half and used 3m rubber pads on bottom side and stuck it in the hole. Quiet as a mouse now...

Been having issues with fuel consumption and performance on my E93 2.0 recently- removed the sleeve on the air filter - better performance and fuel consumption- it’s optional for dusty areas - but it was suffocating my car - get it off

Just seen your great video thanks, just a thought could you use a small amount of lubricant ie oil or soap on the inside rubber of the filter and the round hose to help them on ?

Hi mate, quick question, you wouldn't happen to know the diameter of the small intake hose that goes from the air box to the engine. I'm looking to change my standard air filter with a performance air filter so I can wash and reuse and have it in the air box

Does this engine have a maf filter?
