Awesome videos - I have a John deere d105 with the welded on bracket vs the adjustable one that has two bolts you can loosen and tighten the belt. Have you figured out belt tension can be adjusted on this machine? Using jd belt exact part and the belt is very loose even when engaged - everything seems to be spinning freely with no pully or spindle issues. Have seen tons of this same problem but haven’t found a solution? Belts just won’t last as they get torn up from being too loose……LOVE the mower other than this!

No mention of the day of the week, how you feel. Just a very good video wish all were done this way.

Seat falling apart very early from new, hood cracking like an egg shell even though it's garaged at all times when not used( this is a very common JD issue), steering linkage joints pitifully small not much bigger than a throttle linkage joint, seat suspension rubbers crumble all the time and deck paint issues like mentioned in the video. Purchased this to replace a guide pulley kzfaq.infoUgkxO9seYZjlnuP5UvMkb7osQW3WxPVeSnPk on our John Deere x304 snowblower. As I stated in the title, it is just about perfect. The stock pulley has a spacer at the bottom. I used four washers to emulate said spacer, and it works perfectly now. Great product, and great price especially if compared to typical JD prices.

So I’ve owed a 42” John Deere for years and the way you replaced the drive belt is exactly the way I’ve done it for years. This is the perfect video on how to do it the right way. In many videos I’ve watched they seem to avoid removing the mower deck which takes all of 5 minutes. Sure makes this job a lot easier.

Your channel is just simply awesome! I’ve got to do this to my Husqvarna riding mower this weekend. Come to find out those sealed bearings from the factor in the spindle last a grand total of 74 hours. From your channel and others I’ve learned to to make it so that never happens again. At least not from a lack of grease. This thing basically exploded out the bottom. I heard a change in sound as I was mowing but because of the high grass I was in I thought it had just caked on and would clear in a turn or two. It was NOT grass, it was a part entirely engineered to fail! There are no zerk fittings, even if it had one the bearings are sealed! Shady af if you ask me. Anyway thank you so much for your awesome videos! Your three goals have been achieved! Deep gratitude from this guy

I love that you identify what tools, including sizes, you are using. The more of your videos I watch the more I like your presentation/explanation of each step. I changed my belt two years ago and it took me forever to get the new belt on correctly. You made it look so simple. I'm getting ready to replace my deck blades...😕 One thing I always check whenever I remove my deck is to make sure its level when I put it back on. It's a simple adjustment and only takes a couple minutes. I also grease the fittings.

You've given me the confidence to at least try to put back the belt that jumped off my L120 which I recently inherited. If it jumps off again, I'll look at the spindles and other parts and give those a go too. My aunt and uncle just had to pay $900 to get a broken belt and a bent spindle replaced! Hopefully, your video will help me avoid something that is definitely NOT in my budget at this time. Thanks for making this video. 🙏

I have used many of the major brands over the years and depending on what type of job you need them for they all have their strong and weeks points. Personally I have found that what works best for my needs is a Stiga all wheel drive with the deck in front instead of under the machine, e.g. the Park Pro series. This allows you to easily get into corners, between bushes and shrubs etc. and allows for super easy access to the deck whether it is for cleaning, servicing, sharpening blades, or whatever. They are a bit pricey but have outlived anything else I have tried and should be worth the investment in the long run.

When you have the deck removed and apart it is also an excellent opportunity to service the arm that the clutching idler is on (clean & grease the bushing it pivots on and maybe even replace the pivot bushing if it shows any wear at all). As always a great job.

I have a TORO TimeCutter MX 5000 with the forged 52-inch deck. That deck is very heavy. Since the front deck, anti-scalp wheels face forward, and there are no rear wheels. And instead, a curved piece of metal. Pulling it sideways is a real chore. I can't see any reason, besides cost, why they don't use caster-type wheels. If they did, it would be a breeze to remove the deck. When working with bolts and screws, I apply an anti-seize compound on the threads. This is a must-do when a steel bolt passes through an aluminum alloy part. Whew, glad I got that off my chest. Please have a pleasant and safe day.

How do you deal with the flaking-off paint (or powder coating) on the D/L series decks? Mine's flaking in pieces measured in inches. Strip and paint it all or just paint the spots? I long for the days of enameled metal on the Sixties-Seventies 110-and-up Deeres.

When the deck belt gets stretched on the older John Deere’s, you can loosen the 2 bolts on the PTO cable bracket and slide the bracket back about 1/4 inch and tighten the belt. I know you cannot do it on some of the E models as the bracket is welded to the deck

Ya know when I would get an extremely dirty engine or mower, I'd tell them up front that I will have to clean and charge them as part of the bill, just can't do a good job or open a crankcase with them dirty, its ok if they take somewhere else, and I don't mean that in a bad way...

Looks like that was black landscaping fabric that you had to cut out of that one blade. wonder where they picked that up. LOL

You literally saved me time, money and frustration of doing this job of blade replacement myself. Thank you for posting this. Between you and Taryl Fixes All, I am becoming quite proficient at working on my John Deere.

Well I am a almost 60-year-old lady who does not know anything about lawn mowers and I am having problems with my John Deere la100 series and I just watched your video and I am fully informed! What a great video I will subscribe immediately! Turns out what I thought (and my thought I mean assumed) was wrong with it isn't even what's wrong with it! This video was extremely helpful! I am ready to do this now! Thank you! So awesome to see a lady doing these videos! I got to see what else you have posted now!

Just changed a broken belt on a friend's JD S100 without seeing this video. I did watch another video and struggled through it but succeeded. I wish I had found your video first. Excellent step by step instruction. Great job! Would have cut the time on my project in half.

I cannot believe you are only at 16k. You have saved me a bunch of money with your tutorials. I saw my small engine mechanic at his retirement party and he asked why I hadn’t been in for any repairs. He was sure I had hired a yard service and wasn’t using of my yard toys. I didn’t tell him the truth.😉

Just bought a John Deere D105 today from the pawnshop. Got it home and was super excited to cut the grass only to soon find out that there was no belt on it. I called the pawnshop and spoke with the manager. She offered to give me my money back or pay for a belt. I chose to let them buy the belt. Because I did a quick KZfaq search and found your video and saw how easy it is to replace the belt. I bought this mower for a really good deal. It has low hours and looks like new. I did get a 6 month warranty just in case though. When I put the belt on tomorrow I will check out all of the other deck parts now that I know what to look for. Thanks for sharing this great video.

Thank you so very much for this video! I have a D105, almost new, but stupid me hit rocks I forgot were there, breaking the belt. I don't have a trailer and the estimated time for the shop to pick it up and fix it (I also need to replace the solenoid) is over two months, so I will be doing this myself. Again, thank you! I have now subscribed to your channel, I really loved the way you present.
