Also, pull out your transmitting oil dip stick to prevent the gulping and splashing when you're draining the oil.

I do it this way and no issues after 135,000 miles. Change 4.2 qts. every year, avoid flush.

How many miles on this subaru? Also separate question when do you plan on doing timing belt? By age or miles or by inspection of the timing belt after it has passed age and miles of recommended change.

110k miles but I can’t do timing belt!! the car is totaled, recommendation is to do timing belt at 75k miles

If you do it like that you still have OLD fluid inside you have to put some of the new fuid in so it will wash out the old one first

Yes you have to do fill and drain 3 times

Well....there is a belief that if you "flush" the system you are loosening up stuff. Volvos were notorious for this. I would do exactly as he has described here. Get rid of the old so it's not burning up on you but at the same time do not "flush" it out.

bullet solano I have a 2011 Subaru Impreza 2.5 L base sedan. I want to be able to do my own Automatic transmission fluid change. Does the 2011 Subaru Impreza come with a transmission filter? Does that need to be changed?

Yes some Subaru’s have a filter inside but you need to check with your vin number if you change the filter make sure that the new gasket is torque it down the right way and get Subaru transmission fluid!! Don’t get anything else

It requires a new valve body for the cvt transmission. Basically subarus are crap never again and will always avoid... its a faulty part from the makers and instead of issuing a recall they extended the warranty which didnt provide me with relief since i was out of the extensions parameters on milage but not years

for a copper gasket, spec is 51.6 ft-lbs, for an aluminum gasket, the spec is 32.5 ft-lbs.

@@BulletSolano That's for front differential oil drain plug. For transmission, it's 18.4 ft-lbs.

No problem bro, in my car the fuel filter is inside the fuel tank that’s why I haven’t replaced it but if your car have the filter outside that’s easy

I don't know, my car is 1.5L Impreza 2009. According to the car's service schedules, I need to replace my fuel filter after 105,000 km and now im with 104,000... Your engine look like mine so maybe it's inside the fuel tank too...

Check inside the fenders and the firewall, or just check the injectors and follow them to se if you have the filter

Thanks for the advice but I prefer not to because I don’t like to get the transmission dried but in 3 weeks I gonna remove the pan and the filter, that way I gonna get more fluid out
