I would say the best way to remove the fuses is with that tool right at the bottom of the fuse box

Ha yes indeed. This is one of my older videos before I found that out! Every day is a learning day! All my new Fuse videos show the Tool. Although I hate these new Micro Car Fuses on modern vehicles, they are a nightmare to get out as they are so TINY. Have a good week and thanks for visiting.

I think the R50 fuse box location is the dumbest ever. My passenger door lock decided to give up the ghost and wouldn't unlock, so the first port of call was to check the fuse.. Uugh... In through the drivers door, passenger seat back as far as it would go then some upside down contortions to get to the fuse box.. Turned out it was the actual lock motor inside the 'non serviceable' lock mechanism £130 assembly ( which I replaced with a new modified Mabuchi 301 motor £5, saving myself £125 in the process), but having gone through the pain of checking the fuses my next 'mod' is to swap all the fuses out for led ' tell-tale' fuses.

To save me messing about with a voltmeter if I wish to piggyback a fuse which side is live and fused side please? Cos obviously if you want to piggyback a fuse you'd want the power to go through fuse first.

Lurgs, Do the backup lights on a 2006 mini Cooper R50 have a separate fuse? My backups aren't working and I want to check if it could be a fuse but cannot find anywhere on which fuse it actually would be. The turn signal and brake lights all work... just the backups stopped working recently. I changed the brake light bulb on the passenger side and I tested the backup lights and the driver's side was on but the passenger side was not on.. I took out the bulb but it did NOT look burnt. I jiggled it around and it came on and off a few times and then both backup lights were off. All of the other tail lights are working.. I wanted to check out if the. back up lights have their own fuse before I go and replace the back up switch. any help would be greatly appreciated,,,

I don't think there is a separate fuse, Have you just got the one reverse bulb? If so then check connections are good and not corroded. Else it could be the reverse switch which I think is on the gearbox somewhere

@@LurgsHowToGuides the drivers side back up bulb was working but the passenger side was not.. I was changing the passenger side brake bulb that was when I noticed the back up on the passenger side was not working. I took out the bulb and reinserted it. At one point it came on and off and then both sides were off.. and have not come back on. I've talked to a mini dealer and they weren't much help and said to bring it in and we'll check it out. The mini dealer is 2 hours from me and I really don't want a $500 bill if I can work on it myself. That is why I was wondering which fuse was for the tail lights. Since all the tail lights work now except the back ups. By looking at the fuse box pictures of different items I can't figure out which would be for the tail lights. Would the tail lights be connected to the head lights?

Just check all the fuses first to see if any have blown. Then recheck both bulbs and then check the reversing switch. Should be a simple fix hopefully. Good luck

Very unlikely, it would be one fuse but hopefully it’s just a headlight bulb failure, I’ve got a video how to replace it. Good luck and Merry Christmas.🎄😎

GJB's VID's I didn't think this model of Mini ever had a sunroof? if you check out my other video 'How to check main fuses on Mini' I think it is in there, of course if you are looking at a different model it may all be different, good luck.

I’m trying to get a dash cam fitted to my Mini Cooper 2006 (not 100% on the model) do you know the name of that type of fuse so I can buy the correct one off amazon?

They are just standard car blade fuses (not the micro\mini ones).

What one is the indicator flasher relay? Our indicators have failed and been told to replace the relay but nothing in manual to indicate which one to replace - I think it may be the top relay in this image? Help please 😁

I've checked this video and my other video (Main fuses) and it's not on any of the diagrams. It's possible it doesn't have a relay and it's computerised. Might be worth a search on some Mini Forums.

Hello! My R52 cooper s has an electric sound when braking, aswell as when i turn on the lights. I have an aftermarket music system with a black box(whatever it is) in the glovebox. It got very hot, and the electric sound is only present as i said when braking and lights on. What can it be?

No idea but if it gets really hot I'd be wary as it could blow fuses or damage electrics or even catch fire! If you don't need it then I'd remove it or power it off.

Yeh the fuse removal key is useful although many older second hand cars they get lost.

Sorry don't know what happened there 😆. Have you any idea which fuse is for the brake lights, the centre light is on, but left and right brake is not, somebody told me that there was a diode under the carpet which must be wet is this true ?? Because the brake light share the same fuse. ??

@@paulwatson6545 Not sure I’m afraid. When you push the brake pedal there is probably a switch above your foot somewhere, worth checking that is ok

Trinity Fry I think that's a tricky job. Need to disconnect battery then just get into it. Never taken it off but should be safe with battery disconnected as I think you have to disconnect a few cables to get access to those fuses

Main beam headlights comes on every time I put the right side indicator on any ideas what could be wrong ???

If your model has the indicators on the same stalk as the high beam stalk it sounds like a faulty stalk. Very unlucky for that to happen. You could try squirting some WD40 down inside but that's a long shot.

I don't think there is as it's a manual release. So when you squeeze up underneath the bar (above the number plate) is nothing happening at all ?
