The fuse box your looking for is more of a little recess with fl1-4 fuses , remove all 3 screws the the wire block connector then lift whole fuseboard towards you tilting forward , on back side is a small plastic cover remove that and tada !

I’m so hoping you can help me. I’m trying to locate the fuse for the left break light. I know we call car parts by different names😂 but maybe brake lights are called something different?

If the other side brake light is working then I very much doubt it is a fuse. Probably a dodgy bulb or a corroded connection.

Interesting, my mini r50 just failed the mot due to the rear fog light some how only working on the interior light switch and comes on when you open the door like the interior light switches do. I wonder if this fuse would have anything to do with it. Thank you .

It's possible, worth checking and reseating. But it sounds like a short somewhere, maybe a split wire. Check the bulb cluster holder first, check for condensation and make sure connections are clean and dry

How does one access the high current (100A) fuses for the power steering pump? I can find no reference of how to access it anywhere. :-/

I've never had to access it but if you read some of the comments below that fuse blowing seems to be quite common. You might get lucky replying to one of the people who has replaced that exact fuse.

Hello, my 2006 mini two door hatchback Techometer over the steering wheel Stopped lighting up, when I turn on my headlights it lights up but my computer and rpms gauge won't. It used to come on when the car sat outside in the summer time in the sun when the car was hot or , it would come on when ever..lol now I need it working because I have to go through inspection and the first time I took it through inspection it failed because it wasn't lighting up and the man at the inspection station put something under the dash and it wasn't reading so that's why it failed inspection, then as I was leaving the inspection station the techometer came on lol I turned around and went right back to the inspection station it stayed lit and when it went through inspection the car passed inspection, but now 2021 April it won't light up period, could it be a fuse or should I get a used one..?

Very unlikely to be a fuse for a low power output such as that. More likely to just be a simple bulb in the unit, have a search on some Mini forums to see if you can access the bulb. It may have come loose or is on its last legs.

Hello, I have no idea how to get to the 100 amp fuse. The fuse blew but we've been looking for hours and cant figure out how to get to it.

Stargirl I've never had to do it, if you read all the comments I'm sure someone may have accessed it. If not try a Mini forum. It's a big fuse to blow so you'd need to figure out why it blew. Good luck

What type of fuses are those on the top row and where can I buy them?

They are BMW MINI 50 Amp 32 Volt Red Fuses. You can definitely get them from a BMW dealer (but why would you) or any car parts dealer. Best bet is if one of yours has blown then take that one out and take it in with you, then you will definitely get the correct replacement. How do you get to the lower fuses? Do you have to completely remove the fuse box? Or does the top portion come off to reveal them? Jumped my car backwards and my power steering no longer works

Yes I think you have to take it all off but it's very rare for them to blow. You might be lucky as Fuse F8 (a 30amp) one says it does the cooling Fan and the Power Steering so check those 30amp fuses first. Worth a look. If you have the same Mini the Power Steering Pump is electric (not belt driven) so a fuse would stop it working. Why did you bump start it backwards? Ideally you should always bump start forwards in 2nd gear. Good luck. Another one of my subscribers had a similar issue below in the comments (robert eichelberger), if you don't get any joy maybe reply to his comment as he replaced the fuse and a new power steering pump.

Hey thanks for the quick reply lurgs! Sorry for the confusion. I had a dead battery and asked a mate to help me with a jump start. He unfortunately put the cables on his car backwards which has caused me many problems. One of them being no power steering. I think the huge surge of electricity probably was strong enough to pop the 100 amp power steering fuse on the bottom. I was just wondering how to get to the bottom 4 fuses as I have removed the 2 bolts holding in the fuse box but it is still attached to some wires in the bottom causing me some grief.

@@BrickSquad69 Oh dear that sounds like a nightmare. Suprised you haven't blown more fuses and on your mates car as well. Those big fuses hardly ever go. I think what you need to do is disconnect the battery then wrap the terminals in rags (to avoid any sparks) then you can go about removing that top lid. I think you will need to unbolt a big cable. I've never done it but with the battery disconnected it should be safer to access. Trouble is with the battery disconnected you may lose settings on your Radio etc... I wish you luck, let me know how you get on. Let's hope it is a fuse only and no further damage.

robert eichelberger I don't think you can without disconnecting the main cable at the back. The fuses underneath should never blow really so you shouldn't ever need to get to it. Have you had something fail then or just curious to see it?

Lurgs i recently bought a gen one Cooper S with the power steering pump no longer working, the fuse ended up being blown as well as the whole pump being bad, after putting in a new pump and fuse it's working fine and has been for several weeks, my best guess is that a short (due to the previous owner keeping it charged with a solar panel) caused the pump to get current and fry itself before the fuse could blow, but who knows lol I absolutely love the little car tho!

robert eichelberger Great result well done. Ours also had a new power steering pump, its electrical and not driven by the alternator which is odd. Pig of a job as well. Glad you got it sorted.

Burt Man it should say on the back of the lid. Doesn’t look like it’s one of those 4 though looking at the diagram

@@LurgsHowToGuides well it shows the little engine sign with an electric bolt going through it. Indicated as R1 it doesn't specifically say starter relay. My cars starter just quit yesterday so I wanted to check to see if it was the relay but the starter sounds like it's clicking when I turn the key and I can hear the relay switches clicking and buzzing but the starter will not turn and it only clicks one time each time I turn the key. And I use the jumper wire on the R1 relay to the 87 the 30 and it still wouldn't engage the starter but just quietly buzzed where the relays are

Mines a 2003 mini regular and the fuse box under the hood looks exactly like the picture on the thumbnail of your video! I cant even see my starter under the engine or exaust manifold

Are you sure the battery has a good charge? It’s very tight under the Mini, the starter motor might have a loose cable maybe. Try jacking it up and having a look after you’ve checked battery is ok.

I did a bit of research and I'm not sure it has one, I think it could just be computer controlled and not a Relay. If you having problems with your indicators it will likely be a dodgy bulb or a poor connection.

Sometimes through time the bulb holder bends a bit so the metal on the bulb doesn't make a good connection. Worth checking the holders and if they are worn you can bend them inwards slightly with a small screwdriver. Else it could just be a dodgy bulb. If one indicator is flashing faster in normally means one of the other bulbs is bad or blown. Good luck.
