Chipping around the green, are you using the old method or the new. This golf video focuses on the short chip shots around the green. You know the little short chip shots from tight lies that can often lead to nerves and anxiety for golfers.
You will learn an easy short chipping technique and a couple of golf drills that will help you chip the golf ball closer much more consistently.

ABOUT DANNY
-----------------------
Thanks for stopping by. I created this website as a resource just for you to support you on your golfing journey as I know how tricky learning this game can be…to say the least!
I personally found learning the game too long and difficult in the early days. I read all the books, watched all the videos but my game was not improving. Then after studying various forms of neuro science, motor learning, psychology and personal development in less than two years I went from struggling golfer to the final stage of the Open Championship.
On KZfaq and my personal website (www.dannymaude.com) I will bring you the most up to date training, training that is getting tangible results for my clients right now. I don’t know where you are in your golfing journey, you could be just starting out or maybe your body isn’t as flexible as it once was or you’ve got ambitions to slash your handicap. Wherever you are I’ve created a place here you can learn, share your ideas, ask questions and get all the support you need to enjoy this great game.
Be prepared though. If its a quick fix you are after Im not your man. Here I will give you step-by-step advice that you can take straight to the practice ground and apply to the course but it will require you to get stuck in, screw up…a lot, practice some more and then watch those scores tumble
I’ve had the pleasure of coaching thousands of students all around the world and if you are up for the challenge and are ready to get in the game…LETS GO TO WORK!

Great lesson. Covered all the important bits in a few minutes. I now use this (your/Seve’s) system and it has removed the duffs. I particularly liked the bit on concentrating on brushing the turf without worrying about how far the ball goes in the initial stages. Once I got the feel, I just lengthened or shortened my swing and saw how far it carried and rolled for each club. I’ve found this can get a bit messed up if you focus on distance at the start. All that happens is you lose your rhythm by either rushing into the back of the ball to ‘get it up’ or decelerating into it so as not to ‘over hit it’. As you said, get the feeling first. Then with me, I experimented with length of swing to vary distance - always focussing on brushing the turf with the bounce of the club. Improved my chipping no end. Thanks yet again Danny. Best coach on KZfaq in my opinion.

There was a video years of go on school of golf that said you want to imagine the golf ball has feet and you want to swipe it’s feet from under it and not make a divot. Changed my set up and chipping so much for the better!

Hi Danny - I learned the chip the 'old way'.....after a couple years, fairly good at it but have inconsistent strikes due to leading edge issues. After your video, I tried the new way. Took a while to learn to strike it with my torso, not just the arms, and it clicked. I love it....much simpler and anxious to keep practicing and put it to use. Thanks!

Another great video Danny, looking forward to giving this a go. You are my favourite teacher on youtube by a long way. Your lessons on striking irons pure and working on effortless power has transformed my game and I'm hitting so many pure shots into the greens with my irons, so thanks for that. The only problem now is my putting is nowhere near as sharp as my approach play so I'm regularly not cashing in on my opportunities. Would love to see some putting tips and lessons in the coming weeks. Cheers, Mike

Love this video, I have used the pitching information you provided and have confidence in my short game i have not had before. I played a full 18 last week and my golf buddy said my game is 110% better thane he can ever remember. Even on early spring greens which aren't great for putting I'm playing a little better than bogie golf, low 40's for 9 holes. My main concern now is ball position in my stance. Thanks again Danny looking forward to this year.

Cheers Danny boy. This technique is awesome , fun and exciting in the most important part of this game. I've watched Michelson's video on the chip and Tiger and to these great players ball striking is so spot on. Great for them , but not the average Joe. Your instructions on this and the 50 yard pitch and the sand trap have truly made it "fun". If we played a few holes you would hear me laugh and see me smile at some of the shots I couldn't do consistently. Thanks 🙏

Now just need to get the distances worked out but no more “skulling” or balls that fly dead right. Dropped 18 balls twice around my pin today on my gold course and could not believe it. Got behind a trap and used same system and pitched over trap on to green. Thank you!!! Subscribing now.

Well I practiced this today and my big takeaway from this was having the ball forward (just) of my sternum and ensuring my shoulders were level. I have a tendency to swing flat and by ensuring my takeaway was slow and more upright with a smooth transition I achieved some good results. Thank you Danny , I am playing a round on Tuesday with our golf group and looking forward to some more practice and better results around the green 😊

great chipping. I am a 13 handy chap and do fairly well except chipping. I took many lessons and was always taught the old way, leaning etc. Hit it fat and having no idea where the ball was going. Frustrating and adding one or two strokes . I was watching Ricky Fowler one day and he stood straight up and the club was not leaning. But I am too stupid to change what I was taught until I shot two games in a row in the 90s. All my added shots where from chipping. So I remember Fowler and tried it. It worked. I then saw your lesson and it ws the same thing. Wow, I went outside and tried it and it worked instantly. Yes, I understand the bounce and gliding the the ground. I am going to practice and start. playing better. Great video. Thank you.

Ok. Former low single digit handicap no longer playing or practicing as much as I need to. Short game was my strength in the past. Chipping had gone to hell. Did not know where the ball was going as I stood over it. Would hit four ok, then fat one, double hit one, skull one. Watched your video and went to the practice green. Within 15 minutes all thoughts/fears about quality of contact, fat and thin shots had disappeared. I was back to focusing on how far to fly the ball, how far it would roll. Totally target oriented! Great video. Love the drill for reminding one how to feel the motion.

Very worthwhile video. Drill with club (9-iron in video)under the left armpit effectively reinforces this around the green chipping movement....setup and sweeping ball contact are more like a long putt than the historical weight forward/ball towards back foot setup and downward strike chipping method. Seve Ballesteros, the short game Maestro, is referenced as utilizing the same method. Believe Raymond Floyd, another of Golf’s we’ll-respected chippers, also thought of a chip as a putt.

Danny thanks for investing your time here! Question… “tight” lies / hard turf… does it change your thinking on “glide through”?

I've been using this "new" method for awhile. Works great, and a lot more consistent. Before I saw your great video I got the concept from a short video from Paul Azinger where he shows always returning the swing to the 6 o"clock position. As you show, it works for chips and pitches.

I’m chipping in this new way for a couple of weeks now and it works awesome! I’m so happy with this instruction you gave. I’m a confident chipper now. I’m still having some issues from tee to green but, when my ball is near the green I can keep my game together thanks to this. Lately I’m struggling because I’m topping the ball. Can you give me a drill to avoid that? Thanks a lot for all your drills and tips. It makes me a better player and therefore enjoying the game so much more.

Great tip Danny. I have used it for my last couple of games and from the shorter grass it works well and is very consistent. However, this stroke doesn't work well in longer grass. I would like to see a video on chipping from the rough around the greens. Thanks.

Hi Danny few weeks since taking this video into practice. Much improvement for me in particular last 2 weeks in competition.. One thought I added when moving back from the ball is keeping low to ground and this has really helped me keep it shallow. Not sure if latter is best but has worked. Thanks again David

Good video. This is basically a stack and tilt setup, which I am using in all my golf shots. The one thing I have also been doing is using more of my dominant hand to control the club; my right hand. I am noticing the drills being used here are right hand drills, but no mention of leaving the left hand out of the equation, that is, pulling the club through the ball. Besides the new setup, the abandonment of left hand control was a great change in my game.

side note. Many people negatively stigmatize stack and tilt without even knowing what it is or how many tour players use variations of it. cheers.
