Putter fittings can be incredibly eye opening. I was fortunate to be with with Duane at the kingdom and i walked in with a flow neck blade with a lot of toe hang and 4 degrees of loft and walked out with a face balanced spider x flattened 1.5 degrees and 1.5 degrees of loft on the putter which is about as far as i could get from what i walked in with.

Ian, I am a huge fan. I am hoping you would go far more into, how to choose a putter head for different putters. Didn’t feel it was as clear as I was hoping

Had a putter fitting with John in the fall. Surprised results and great fitting. I would recommend getting fit for everything in the bag including ball. TXG may have to start fittings for golfers wives.

Thank you for all the putting and wedge videos with Gareth. Great stuff, not enough short game videos, so really appreciate TXG putting out this content. Did some mirror work with my putter and found my eyes were a little too inside the ball and my ball position a little too far forward. Made the adjustments and was getting a much truer roll and better dispersion front to back. Better results with my mallet putter than my blade so it looks the the mallet is going back in the bag this year. Going to work on my wedge game areound the green next weekend weather permitting. I just did a putter fitting a month ago and was surprised what style of putter i should be using. I love that i can look for a new putter and disregard a ton of ones that are not suited for me.

@10:20 Absolutely 100% correct! I use a blade putter and must hit up on putts, head back, looking down the line with strong shaft lean. "See It and Sink It" by Farnsworth was an influential book for me.

Timely review. I really struggle to with my putting and have tried multiple styles , brands and just cant seem to find one I am confident in. I am gaming the stroke lab double wide as it seems to be the best of the worst for me. Time to find a place for a proper fitting.

when I have problems with short putting I tend to move to a blade, but overall my feeling is that I do best with the putter which gives me the best pace control, certainly confidence wise. I use a Oddessy white hot 2 that looks like the one Luke Donald and Ian Poulter use- its awesome

Putter fitting is a 100% must. I had my Scotty Cameron Newport 2 fitted by Ross Jackson @ The Golf Performance Institute and my distance control massively improved and also my aim too. Shortened the shaft and loaded the putter with weights for more control and feel to suit my feel.

I really like Mizuno’s new offering of M Craft putters. Very simple, 3 models for 3 swing arcs in 3 finishes. Obviously a putter has to suit your eye but your stroke does not lie.

These kind of videos are interesting and informative. One thing that has not been discussed is the importance of the shaft. I've been putting with the same Scottsdale Anser (5 step shaft) since 1966. For me putting is about getting the ball on the line and speed I want with both hands around my throat. :)

I like blades being smaller in the bag and able to use the back to flick the ball up to save bending down if its a "gimme". I spent an hour trying lots of putters and the TM spider arc holed the most balls. Not a fitting, just trial and error. Shaft length and grip play a part too. I think you can adapt to the putter with practice if you love it enough..

Ive always used a blade, specifically an Odyssey #1, it broke early this year and went to get a new one, tried the Odyssey O-works and didnt like it, felt a different weight, so got fitted, ended up with a TaylorMade Spider Tour and have been holing so many more putts.

I have that phantom x 12.5. I love it

Over this last weekend I went for a putter fitting and they used a SAM machine to capture data. My old putter is an Odyssey Dual Force 990 toe hang (with a TXG cover). It read that I was outside in on all of my putts and had a launch of about 5 degrees, not optimal. They suggested I give up golf, no, actually they suggested a face balanced putter but did not give me much more help. Any suggestions please? Thank you again for all of these videos with Gareth, it is very welcomed to hear how the best trainers and golfers think.

I'm just hoping that some of my "off the rack" buys from this season are still playable and I don't have to swap out ALL the gear in my bag. Already swapped driver and 3W and will be getting fit for irons/wedges next. Does TXG offer counseling services to help with breaking the news to wives that we need to buy new clubs (again)?? I liked the way the Odyssey Stroke Lab Seven reacted to my swing in the store and bought it. Now I'm afraid to get fitted for putter lest they recommend something along the lines of my older blade =)

Switched to a malet 5 years ago. Went from around an avg 3.5 putts per round to 1.7. I am always 100% jealous of guys who strike blades well.

These are the 2 models I have been looking at for 2020 season, the PhontomX 12,5 is winning for me but would love to fit in this system.. Shame it's not available in my country.

BUT Ive discovered I do have some forward press and like to drag my hands with the putter and been successful with that. Do you have any cheaper options to recommend, besides the Phantom 12.5? I switch from tm spider to select squareback and now the newport. I noticed that my misses are always pull. It always goes left even when the putt is straight. Is it more of a stroke problem than the putter or should i get fitted for one? Appreciate it. Ive learned so much about my game because of you guys. Does the length, lie and kind of putter really affect my putting? It is 34 long and im 5’7

Love your guys' videos but I think it would be helpful to see a fitting where you take someone with a higher handicap and you make them hit putts from the left and right side. This way, they are not able to use the 90 degree lines that are created by the putting surface you have. Even a bad putter can start to dial in a putt in this scenario. If they move from left to right with each put they have to change the angle. This will help to address AIM issues, not just putting stroke. I myself aim too far to the left and then I like to push my putts on-line. I have been trying to find an answer as to what type of putter might suite me but I can't seem to find the answer. Great videos though. Thanks for what you guys do!

I have a fair amount of “press” in my stroke, so it sounds like I would lean towards a mallet. But I also currently use a center shafted putter (Ping sigma g kinloch). Does the shaft type change much in terms of suggestions? Thanks!

What do you think of wide blade putters like Stroke Lab Double Wide? I have gamed mallet putters Like Versa 7 and Spider X. But allways ends up going back to blade putters. I bought a Stroke Lab Double Wide with flow neck yesterday. I tend to aim better with a blade putter. I don't no why that is something feels different with a blade.

What happened to all the Center shafted putters, seemed 10 years ago there was a ton now you have to pick an choose to try and find one that still has an appeasing head on it.

How do you reconcile the player who wishes to putt with a lighter putter because of feel, vs the heavier nature of putters today? I'm comfortable with a 310 gr and today you can't find anything less than 340 gr with many trending north of 350 gr. And ya, I'm old.

Matt seems very neutral with his swing and preference on putter type which is great for the video to appeal to the masses. I am very curious how the fitting would go with someone with more forward press, like Alex Noren or Jordan Spieth.

I was fit for putters, and the system recommended something with some decent toe hang, like a blade. I'm fine with that, but I've noticed some blade putters have too long a blade. What models of anser-style have a shorter blade length?

If you can't get a putter fitting and you're trying to decide between a blade and a mallet what is the best way to do that? Would you just hit a few putts with each from different distances and choose the one that holes the most? I'm looking at the Mizuno M Craft type 1 and the Scotty Newport 2.5 for blades and the Scotty Del Mar, Fastback 1.5 or the Odyssey Stroke lab Marksman S for mallets.

That Scotty "blade" is not a blade but an Anser style putter, a blade is what I played with for nearly 20 years (Yonex, Phil Mickelson blade c. 1998) - absolutely no tech, just a pure shiny lump of metal. A beautiful putter, exceptional feel, easy to control distance when you got consistent strike but completely unforgiving on any mishits. As for MOI, I can confirm it had none! I now play a mallet. Now can we have a video on choosing shaft length for a putter

For me, selecting a putter is a lengthy process of fitting, trial and error, using the putter on different types of grass, and different conditions.

I was fit my Edel, best fitting process out there, without Quintin or SAM, works great for me, all my mates have off the rack putters cannot understand why they miss ones they should make. Change the putter not your technique.

A plumbers neck is so ugly to me. I'm left eye dominant putt right, and the angle looks funky. I have worked on my putting technique. I used to have a ton of foward press and every once in awhile I would actually loose my angles and fat a putter badly. It's funny what I love to look at, tp mills one /one w pocket/and klassic with a 1/4 shaft or less offset, are so far away from what I actually perform well with. I changed to an Odyssey 2MCS (face balanced Center Shaft) with 35 gram weights and the shaft is actually slightly behind the face. I literally haven't missed a five footer because of mechanics since summer of 2016. I absolutely hate to look at it but I make almost everything with it. It's funny how that works sometimes. Sometimes you can actually forget about looks and live with performance. I was pulling puts so badly that I was trying to just get it close from 5 and 6 ft away. I would completely miss the left side of the hole. This putter probably saved me from quiting golf. It's hilarious to me that it didn't sell well and is terrible to look at. It is however extremely easy to line up.

I find this irritating! I just spent $300 on the new Stroke lab, Bird of Prey and after watching this, I have no idea if I did the right thing. We don't have anyone around us who has a machine like you have so I have to rely on trying them in the store and their 60 day money back guarantee.
